Hey, everyone - I grew up in SW MO (Washburn, MO - Sa-LUTE!), but haven't spent much time at all in Springfield in the past 30 years. Coming down for a funeral next weekend, at St. Agnes, which I believe is in the Walnut/Kimbrough area. What are some good restaurants in that general area? We could drive a little, too - just figured we didn't want to drive to Marionville or anything!

Probably nothing too far out there foodwise. I like a little adventure, but I think most people in the family are pretty mainstream.

Assuming the funeral is Saturday because Catholics don’t have funerals on Sunday. So St. Michaels is at South street and McDaniel. Very casual, owner is a parishioner of St Agnes. The Order is inside the hotel vandivort on walnut between Jefferson and South Street. Springfield Brewing Company has something for everyone. These are all very close to St. Agnes (Jefferson and Cherry)

Can personally recommend SBC.

They're a perfect example of a gastropub.

If you like Greek Food, Greek Belly is right around that location. One of my favorite spots, not fancy and pretty affordable as well.

I moved here recently and one of my favorites is Jimm's Steakhouse. It's a $$ place but the prime rib is to die for. The staff is really friendly and a well stocked and well maintained salad bar. Room for a crowd. I would call ahead for a big group. It might be a but of a drive but worth it.

Jimm's isn't too bad on the $$ for a steakhouse, steakhouses as a whole are just pricey. They're actually cheaper than Outback.

Absolutely agreed on the food and the service. Also the atmosphere. They feel expensive because they have a really high-end vibe, even though the prices aren't horrible.

Mimi's Soul food, Brew Co, or Rama Thai. I don't know how many you are wanting to seat, but all of these can do middle sized groups and are family friendly.

Brewco might be a good option, lots of seating and close to St. Agnes. Good beer options, pretty good menu…. More than a just pub menu

City Butcher BBQ is my first stop every time I come back home... not downtown, but worth the drive.

Well restaurants are one thing we have in spades, here's a few top ones by genre(?)

Asian: Bawi korean bbq, Rama Thai, Koriya, Craft Sushi, Kung fu taco is amazing

Bbq: City butcher, Whole hog

Steak: Rerico (all you can eat Brazilian style), Jimms isn't too bad

Mexican: Tortillaria Perches, Ceasars old Mexico

Other: Van Goghs is great Dutch food, Zayka is really good Indian, Gailey's or Early Bird for breakfast fare, Neighbors Mill for Panera style stuff but good

Hard to go wrong honestly

Golden Korean Restaurant should've been on your Asian list, and definitely above Koriya. Highly recommend them if you haven't tried them. Most authentic Korean around here. Honestly my favorite restaurant here in town.

Their bulgogi chicken and pork are delicious and spicy, but their beef bulgogi is savory and the best bulgogi beef dish I've had! Really can't go wrong with any of their dishes tho. Just make sure at least one person orders an entree that includes side dishes for the whole table. They include the side dishes in to-go orders too!

Golden Korean gave me the worst experience recently. I used to like the restaurant but their food quality went downhill. And, the waitress was rude and acted she couldn't care less. Ugh

Neighbors Mill has the best swiss cheddar rolls. They are like a flaky roll. Both heated up well the next day for breakfast with coffee. It is hard to explain. The cheddar bacon was good too. They also have sweet breads that are moist. Cinnamon rolls. I have not been for lunch but the place is busy. I head right for the bakery. It is worth the stop, I promise!

I think Civil Kitchen would suit your needs. They have sort of elevated comfort food. If you have a lot of people wanting different things, Big Whiskey's would be suitable. Farmer's Gastropub also has homey-type dishes and they have a quiet, private room you can reserve for your group.

Lindbergs is awesome. Especially their sunday brunch. Get there early bc a line forms but worth the wait

Forgot there was a Lambert's there. My college girlfriend's mom knew the original owner in Sikeston, before he died. Grew up with him.

Before I moved here Lambert's and Billy Gail's were must stops on the way to Branson. I always got a dozen rolls to take home from Lambert's. I love the Billy Gail's in both Springfield and Branson. Now that I have moved here, have not been as there are so many other choices but if you are looking to impress someone not in this area, this is a unique experience for sure.
