US 97 did an April Fool's joke where they said they were switching to country, that was around the same time.

I'm almost positive that the country switching April Fools joke was Rock99 in 1986. They never recovered.

Yeah, that was KOSP 105.1. It was played nonstop before they started their regular programming.
