Hi! I recently moved to Springfield to be closer to my boyfriend but since I work from home, I have no clue how to meet people and make friends as an adult!

What are some groups, events, places, or any other suggestions for meeting people around here?

Checkout MeetUp. They organize events of all kinds so you can pick to attend something that’s interesting to you. If you’re into hiking and identify as female or NB, join WHOM Missouri Chapter on Facebook. I’ve also heard good things about bumble bff but I’ve never tried it!

Making friends as an adult isn't easy, most friends are grouped around an activity at that point in life.

Hiking, tabletop games, volunteering, book clubs, etc.

Those kinds of things will be how you find your fit.

I feel like volunteering is always a good way to meet people. Find a cause you believe in and pursue it. You've got options from "Friends of the Library" to the Art Museum, to parks & recreation type stuff. Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, Ozarks Food Harvest, etc.

Want to meet creatives? Springfield Creatives is hosting an event at Blue Room Comedy Club on Wed 11/16 and a holiday social on Wed 12/21. Both events should be good opportunity to meet a lot of other creatives.

Want to meet tech professionals? Springfield Tech Council is planning an event about social media on Thu 12/1. Their events have been drawing a nice crowd of people you could meet.

Want to meet software developers? Springfield Devs is hosting a holiday social on Wed 12/7 that will be a great opportunity meet a lot of other devs.

You can find most of the local tech-focused events on the Springfield Tech Calendar. Most of our local tech events are open to the public and free to attend.

What kind of stuff do you and your SO like to do for fun? My spouse and I are always looking to make friends with other 20's something couples in the area. We like to hit up lots of local stuff, from hanging at the breweries, to going to places like Friends Kareoke.

Bumble BFF is kinda useless. I’ve tried it multiple times and it’s usually the people that have no luck on the dating side of the app so they switch over to BFF to “break the system” I suppose.

I’ve never used it so like I said I can’t speak to personal experience, but I was at a wedding a couple weeks ago (groom’s side) and several of the girls I talked to actually met the bride through Bumble BFF. So it definitely works sometimes. I’m sorry you didn’t have a positive experience, though.
