I’m currently looking for a gas saver, something I don’t have to be a mechanic for or replace after 2-3 years of use ? Any dealerships or car lots in the area that do/don’t take credit checks will be fine as well.

Any recommendations?

Absolutely a Prius. Can you drive stick? They cost less. Some that stick out to me that are common are: Chevy cobalt, Chevy Aveo, Nissan Versa, Ford Fiesta, Kia Soul, Kia Rio, any Honda or Toyota sedan with a 4cyl, Hyundai Accent, there is others but I can’t remember.

Source: worked at Walmart auto, all cars came horribly neglected all the time, these seemed to do ok if signs of abuse weren’t obvious. Take care of whatever car you get and it’ll take car of you, mostly

New: Mitsubishi Mirage or Nissan Versa. They’re A-B vehicles, they’ll last you a decent amount of time before they break down. I know Nissan and Mitsubishi both have that “we’ll finance to anyone no matter what your credit score is” type payment plans.

If you’re looking used, try and find a Camry or a corolla. I drive a ‘98 Corolla and I get roughly 25mpg. The most expensive thing I’ve ever had done to it in terms of repair (not including maintenance) was replacing a power steering hose which cost me $60 for the part at 100k miles.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is really cool because it is actually a 3cylinder engine, which is pretty rare for the us. It’s probably not ideal if you ever need it repaired because I would imagine the parts are hard to come by, but it would certainly get incredible gas mileage

Parts wouldn’t be an issue for a car that’s widely sold. If it was a one off variant like a diesel version of it that’s rarely sold in the us, then yeah.
