I always abruptly answer in a deep southern accent and bellow:

“In the name of JAY-SUS! The LORD came to me in a dream and told me I was HIS tool to bring one of HIS stray sheep back to HIS flock! Together we we pray, friend, and exorcise the demons possessing your cell phone! Through JAY-SUS we will banish them and cure you if your drug and pornography addiction! Will you PRAY with me, brother?”

Then I get all quiet and start mumbling in circular talk that leads nowhere until they hang up.

Usually solves the problem.

Not from that number specifically but I do get a lot of automated spam calls (especially from out of state) and it is really annoying. Especially because I am on the national do not call registry but I guess that means nothing. I have learned to just do nothing when I see a number I do not recognize.

Wouldn't even have that much of a problem with it if there were actual people on the line. Atleast then I could get entertainment value out of it by fucking with the person on the other end.

Most of these are spoof calls. Someone using a phone number that isn't theirs to call an area that uses the same area code and prefix. They do this in the hope you will be more likely to answer the call, thinking it is someone you know. Then they hit you with the very noticable and poorly planned scams.

Just the opposite: I've been getting calls at work from people who have been getting spoofed calls from our number x_x And so far those people who call back a random number that left no message struggle to understand the concept of spoofed spam calls.
