Just got off the phone with "Fast Fiber Direct." Got scam vibes. Anyone use these people for internet?

EDIT: The guy I talked to on the phone said they partner with the city's utilities and that I could get like 900 Mbps for $65 a month, no cap, but that I had to pay it upfront. He wanted me to put my debit card number in a website while we were on the phone and said that it wouldn't work if I did it at another time cause he had to accept it on his end.

It just gave me bad vibes. There's no identifiable info on their website. I don't believe it even has the company's name on their website.

Why not use the municipal fiber for Quantum? It's great. Great price. And not a scam

Quantum is out as of October. They sold off to Brightspeed.

Any idea if this is a good or bad thing?

Quantum at least had a "notify me when my address is connected" page. Brightspeed can't even find my address.

Gives me bad vibes when our municipal fiber changes hands in such a short time.

It won't be available in my area until March... which is at least more than Quantum (aka CenturyLink) would ever tell me.

Brightspeed is apparently a brand new company, like formed in '21 new, and still going through some teething troubles. They bought out a lot of Quantum's infrastructure in the wake of the company shitting the bed on developing the networks in places where they had contracts.

They just appear to be a broker, not an actual provider

Better business bureau is a private business which any other business can pay money to get a good ranking or remove negative reviews and shouldn’t really ever be a part of your decision making process.

SCAM!!!! The part about "needing to accept your debit card"...for SURE a scam. And if Quantum/Brightspeed isn't in your area then a definite scam. Quantum/Brightspeed was installed by CU so if you can't get that then the guy was trying to just get your numbers to go on a shopping spree.

This looks like it might be a post about area ISPs because it contains the word Fiber. If so be sure to read past posts on the subject. They all basically say this: In Springfield your options are Mediacom, Att, and now Brightspeed Fiber (in limited areas).
