Hi there! My husband and I recently bought a house on the north side. We try to live responsibly and sustainably. When we pick up food togo we prefer to choose restaurants that do not use styrofoam packaging and that at the least, use low amounts of plastic packaging. We love all types of food but we have had a hard time finding a good variety of local places that offer more eco-friendly packaging. We have especially had a hard time finding an Asian restaurant that doesn’t use styrofoam. So, any recommendations? :)

I mean shouldn’t you be more concerned with all the packaging they are using to cook the food, buying the gas to get to the food etc. I mean wouldn’t it be easier to just cook at home using sustainable options?

I haven’t seen any, but telling the drive pickup that you don’t need all the straws, utensils, napkins, sauces, or whatever helps.

I have a napkin stash in my kitchen and keep the plastic take out containers that have the dishwasher symbol for whatever projects I do in the garage or for leftover food.

Taco habitat seems to try the mostish, but the owner is a fraud for embezzling (bourbon Beale, hot clickers, taco habitat, etc)

I can’t remember but depending on what you order, canton inn, pine garden, and golden house does have the containers that are dishwasher safe. Golden house definitely uses them when you get a side of steamed veggies

Team Taco uses cardboard packaging. Thai Express uses plastic, but they're the nicer kind that's reusable. Boskys uses sustainable packaging.

I'm at a loss on Chinese restaurants.... All the standard places I'm aware of use styrofoam clamshells. Except, like the family pack (individual entrees/sides) at Panda Express with the classic Chinese boxes.

Thinking of Hong Kong Inn, Cashew Station, Bao Bao, Cashew Chef, and Lucy's.

I haven't had China King in years, but, at least the one in Republic, used plastic containers.

Boskys has all compostable packaging. Haven’t found any Asian.

The wheelhouse uses a cardboard type of box, the drunken noodles are delicious!
