I'm in town with a friend and curious what things I should do and what I should avoid (like y'all's Flint Michigan level tap water, thought I was getting better leaving Detroit).

I haven't heard anything bad about our tap water? What have you heard?

When I lived in Springfield the tap water in my apartment would sometimes run cloudy or even brown for a few seconds when I turned it on. I assumed it was just the apartment’s plumbing but idk. Seminole apartments owned by Wooten btw. Never bought a water purifier so fast in my life

I've traveled for work this year a lot and I've got a friend that told me the water was bad so I took their word for it. Also it might be the Airbnb I'm staying at.

Always smart to drink bottled water while on vacation. Having plenty of water available keeps you going and reduces the pop drinking and overeating.

We have awesome parks - free. Try to fit a visit to Nathaniel Greene park. Sequita park.

Battlefield mall is out of 1990 and is well kept.

We have 3 caves in the area to explore. $$

Wonders of wildlife at bass pro is awesome, if going, get your tickets in advance. They are more at the door. $$$

We have good restaurants, Leong's good, Mexican Villa bad.

Possibly catch a show in Branson or Dinner cruise$$$

Stop at an Andy's Frozen Custard.

There's many many parks. If you're up for a nature hike check out Ritter Springs over by Fantastic Caverns.

If you're up for a beer and maybe some pool Billards downtown is always fun.

Also if you're up to it walk around the Square and check out some of the local businesses, I highly recommend Mudhouse.

We also have a few Microbreweries. SBC and Mothers is downtown as well.

Do: Get some authentic Springfield Cashew Chicken

Do: Visit Bass Pro Shops (even if you aren't into hunting, people will ask you when you get home if you went there and you need to be able to tell them yes)

Visit downtown Springfield, Gailey's for Breakfast then next door to the small local art gallery, MudHouse for a coffee. Head over to Glenstone to see Cosmic Fish and around the corner to Kaleidoscope, these are two of area's oldest smoke shops which are really well run and not scary or dirty.
Bass Pro is also pretty cool but it's huge, and there is also a Wonders of Wildlife museum attached to Bass Pro if you have about 3 hours to kill.
If you want to try Springfield's Cashew or Sweet and Sour chicken I would recommend Canton Inn, which is near Bass Pro. Most any of our Cashew Chicken places are pretty good, really. You will see one about every 100 feet. You can get a 1/2 and 1/2 order, which is half sweet and sour, and half cashew chicken if you want to try both.
If you want lunch in Ozark, MO (between Springfield and Branson) try B-52 Restaurant for American, Mundos for Latin food, or the Mill Restaurant (Restaurant made out of an old Mill kind & of pricey). Skip Lambert's, it's over-rated and crowded.
If going to Branson, a day pass for the Christmas Tree and lights at Silver Dollar City is pretty awesome, get some cinnamon bread or a funnel cake while you are there. Or, visit The Landing in Branson, which is nice little shopping strip.

Avoid Bass Proshops. Visit Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield if you like history. Stop by an Andy’s.
