I haven’t personally had it because of food allergies. BUT I have lots of friends and family members that love Asian King Buffet on S Glenstone.

I second Asian King Buffet. It has tasted exactly the same my whole life. I've also been to Ichiban buffet a couple of times and it was very solid both times.

Finding a good Chinese buffet will be a challenge these days. For real, are there any good buffets of any kind anywhere in 100 miles?

Bentonville has good ones. Asian king just makes me sad and ichiban has gone downhill from an already low baseline.

Mikado isn’t too bad. They win on most variety. Asian King is pretty solid, doesn’t really change, but a little more limited than the others (still a good variety of things though). Ichiban is kind of meh. They would be my last pick to go to, personally.

I feel like they're all the same, average to below average quality...but tons of variety.

I'll follow for others suggestions though.

I've at at a few that seemed to use very cheap cuts of meat. Either getting small pieces of bone or tendon or something in chicken. They taste the same but if that happens my meal is ruined. I wish I could remember the name of this one to avoid but it eludes me. I don't eat much Chinese.

I haven't liked the big buffets that I've been to. If Cashew Chef still has a buffet, then that would be my pick for quality over variety. It would be relatively small, and I think it's only available at lunch if they still have it, but I like their food. I always use the drive thru, so I don't know if they're still doing the buffet.

Asian King Buffet also been called Kings Buffet on Glenstone in Springfield is pretty decent. Quick to seat you and pretty quick turn around on food at buffet. I go there alot when craving Asian style buffet food. For the best price go around 12-4 to skip the dinner price increase. I think on Fridays the price is more because it is crab day also. Have to call to find out. But for great Asian style food have to say Leong's is my first choice. It is not a buffet but the portions are very big and the service is excellent. Prices are moderate though but the quality of the food is top tier.

The garlic green beans at Asian King are my favorite. Everyone else will be eating crab legs and chicken and I am chowing on plates of green beans. Seriously, though, Asian King is decent.

I have been to Ichiban once, and only once, and it was the worst Chinese buffet food I've ever had. It was a busy Saturday night (although that place is always busy, and idk how), so the food was hot and moving fast. But everything tasted awful and my stomach was not happy afterwards.

I consider myself to have some low standards for acceptably good food and a strong stomach. And Ichiban didn't meet them.

I had Asian King Buffet a couple years ago, it was decent. I don't think I had anything remarkable to say about the quality, but we decided to go on a night they had crab legs (which we don't eat), and it was a gruesome sight seeing the swarms on the crab legs as they barely left the catering pan before being fondled onto plates by buttery hands.

Edit to add: Diamond Head in Republic was good once upon a time, but I've not been since pre-pandemic.

It’s odd you say this cause I was about to come here and mention how packed it was when I drove by 🤣 I don’t do Chinese buffets but figured by the vehicle count it was good

I went with a group, all who love Springfield Chinese / buffets but hadn't been to Ichiban, and everyone had the same consensus. Maybe it was an off night, but it was bad enough that none of us would give it another chance.

Diamond Head is drive-through only now; doubtful the buffet will ever open up. The pandemic made them realize they could do the drive through without the food waste of the buffet.

Not a buffet (sorry) but for takeout or sit down Corner 21 is my favorite place. It's small so I wouldn't go with a huge group.

If you like Chinese but with some sushi and some real fish sushi, Mikado on S Campbell is my best recommendation. The best time to go is about 1115 on a Sat…you can get all the normal buffet stuff fresh but by the time you are done generally the sushi will all be out. I fill a sushi only plate compared to a decent roll at any true sushi place and the price I pay is…already accounted for…plus all the other Chinese items you already ate. The quality is good, early in the day so it’s not over cooked or sat out too long. Flavor is always good.

That said I’ve stopped eating as much plant oil foods as I can…and lots of American Asian convenient/buffet things are full of it. I might do that twice a year now instead of twice a month as I used to. I encourage anyone to reduce/eliminate plant oils as they are unhealthy.

I have never found a good one. If you're wanting variety and quantity the Riksha and Canton Inn are both good plus really cheap and for the price of what one buffet meals costs you can get 2 full entrees.
