I'm missing the Chinese place that was in the spot Yum Yum Bowl is now. Back in the early 2000s, they had amazing general chicken. It was spicy, kind of sweet, had a darker sauce than most places. My friend group all called it "chuf" after a storm messed the letters up on the sign. I haven't found anything like it since. If anyone knows what I'm referring to and has had general chicken similar in flavor since they went out of business, please let me know where.

Mandarin Inn! I remember the place, but not the General chicken specifically. Have you ever tried Canton Inn’s general? It’s been a Springfield favorite of mine for years. Peking House has good general too imo. GL in your search!

I rise, your honor, in support of this OPs filing. I too missing the General Chicken from the old location. I do enter into evidence exhibit A, my personal testimony that the current owner is related to the original owner and the GC is pretty good. I yield back the balance of my time.

Cashew Inn in Nixa has good general that sounds like that.

Yes! Sounds just like it and is the best general chicken in the area anyway.

Yep, their general is unique to any in the SPG area, highly recommend trying it.

Shanghai Inn has a General very Similar to it. Not super sweet but bold. They can crank up the heat like they did for my family there. Mandarin Inn is missed for sure.

I think people may not realize that they can add more heat. New Oriental, a lunchtime favorite at my work. became too sweet for my tastes but they've always been happy to add more heat if I ask.

They're awesome too. They have the better soy sauce packets for take out.

I'm going to be honest, my favorite general chicken is Lucky Panda in clever. I've had gen chicken all over and nothing beats it for me.

Mandarin Inn absolutely had the best general chicken I’ve ever had. And the couple that ran the place was super kind. I think about that place every time I pass that location.

The Great Mandarin Inn. I applaud the efforts of every poster suggesting an alternative and each place is definitely good in their own right. Sadly, they're only a tribute to what was among the greatest possible general chicken available in Springfield.

I have a vivid memory of getting some general there before work in August of 2005. Hurricane Katrina had hit and I was listening to the terrible reports on NPR in my car. I can vividly remember today how my brain was full of conflict. 'These stories are so horrific but this chicken is d e l i c i o u s.' In addition to Mandarin Inn, the loss of Binh Tay on Boonville, Diamond Head on Campbell and Chinese Kitchen in Republic, MO signaled the death of some very special general but that's another story.

Can’t forget the loss of Chopsticks on glenstone. My favorite Chinese place 2011-2012. Definitely a hole in the wall but the price was great! Actually good food and large amount for how cheap it was.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t suggest leongs, maybe not the best but one of the oldest, and I know the cooks. It’s solid. Other than that, canton, peking house, Thai palace in ozark, or golden dragon, tasia, Rama Thai, hell even triple eights, or rice house in a pinch. Bambu makes great food too! So many options.
