I have been going there for almost 2 years because they are one of the few places that will fill adhd medication. But honestly they are the worst. They keep not filling my medication and have been impossible to get in touch with. On top of that, I have recently learned they faced several lawsuits for malpractice, and I just don't think I want to support them anymore. So If anyone has any recommendations for alternative psychiatrists in the area that would be great

Try Bibi Health. It may take a while to get in but they’re worth it.

Following! I always got a weird vibe from them and have been putting off seeking treatment from their psychs

I switched from Eustasis to Burrell. I had numerous terrible experiences with Eustasis for the year that I went there.

I've had a pretty good experience with them. I've been going there for 9 months now, and the only complaint I have is that lately, (within the last month or so) I've been having trouble getting the nurses or receptionists to answer or return phone calls, so that has been a pain.

Something that bugged me, was when I was looking through all the service providers through Aetna, a lot of the psych doctors I found were connected through EUSTASIS as well. I called and complained about that as I was calling and trying to get ahold of them. I figured Aetna could help (they didn’t.)

I'm just left eustasis and have an appointment with Jordan valley in the morning. Idk if they're any better though.

Yeah, my doctor had recommended them to me, which is insane! Eustasis must spend a lot of money to get providers to recommended them or something.

Anyway, I was recommended bibi health, so I will let you know my thoughts on them

Whatever anyone does: do NOT see Dr James Bright in the Plaza Towers building. He is an arrogant, belittling, condescending doorknob with eyes. When I tell him the Med isn’t working he just raises it until it’s at its highest mg and THEN when u STILL complain about not liking how the Med makes u feel, he will simply ADD another pill!

I just get mine through my GP. I did get diagnosed through a neuropsych though, all through Mercy.

I've been to Burrell for many years, then I switched to BiBi health. I loved it at first but then the person I was seeing left and I got put with Dr Bains who owns the place. I guess if your doing alright and you just need your meds it'd be okay. If I genuinely needed help though I'd need to go somewhere else. Also when I went to get blood work the person there was so surprised because she said she used to work for him and he never requested blood work-so much so they couldn't find him in the quest system. Also tried therapy there and that was overall a terrible experience too not to mention the dude acted like I'd hurt myself non stop and I wasn't trying to land a trip to the psych ward. Another thing is they constantly say I did pay for my last appointment all the time so I have to make sure I keep my receipts.

In the end I might just go back to Burrell. None of the psychs there were horrible or anything, it's just when you find one you like the next thing you know they leave. I'd say there's a very high turn over rate in that field as I've been through at least 8 psychiatrists.

Best of luck to you.

Have you been seeing them long? My wife has been going there for about a year now, and while she’s currently happy with the NP she sees, the guy who actually has to prescribe the meds—Dr. Bains, who also owns the place—is routinely late. This last time he was an entire week late. As you might imagine, this is not ideal when you take a medication the sudden cessation of which could put you into withdrawal.

Unfortunately, there is simply no better option for her insurance. Cox just has shit providers.

Most of the problems with Burrell is if you work for them (trust me on that...). But they are a very great organization in their client-facing side.

There is a huge anti-Burrell circle-jerk on this sub, and any time I've engaged with the people making complaints, they've immediately shut down when I ask questions about the absurd things they claim (I think most of those have been teenagers).

The biggest valid complaints against Burrell is how long it takes to get into services at this point, the scheduling department is incompetent and just plain don't seem to complete any intra-agency referrals I complete, and they might screw up one of your appointments occasionally, and I honestly would stay away from the satellite locations because I've historically seen consistent incompetence at those locations.

The worst things I can say about Burrell is the financial mismanagement that has put us in a tough stop after we merged with Preferred Family under the conglomerate of Britli. Authentic leadership was sidelined or let go, our tuition assistance programs all canned, department's were merged/dissolved, and billing is pressed at the expense of employee mental/physical health and well-being.

But so rarely do I see mistreatment, abandonment, or other ridiculous claims I see on this sub. You have to also consider that many complaints are not necessarily grounded in reality given the population we work with. A huge portion of my caseload struggles with paranoid delusions from time to time, and my pastey white ass has been accused of being a middle eastern terrorist before...

The absolute vast majority of client-facing/clinical staff at Burrell genuinely care about the people we serve, and that's why we work where we do. We genuinely care and want to help. It's our leadership who seem to have no empathy for their work force. But even though I genuinely believe their motives are profits, selfishly they would not want our consumers to be mistreated and lose more income.

Take the complaints you read on this sub with a bowl full of salt. Burrell is far from perfect, but we have a lot of incredible providers that absolutely recommend, despite my resentment against our leadership.

Edit: Also just want to say, last time I waited in the Transitions waiting room with a client, two different people struck up conversation with me about how the (slightly newerish) Rapid Access Center saved their lives. One was an older gentleman who kicked an opioid addiction spanning many years, and the other who was addicted to meth said "my two little babies at home almost lost their mom a few times."

The vast majority of client-facing employees at Burrell absolutely do not fit the description the users here depict, and Burrell does tremendous good for our most disadvantaged population. It's far from perfect and I'm sure people have had bad experiences, but it should not dissuade you from seeking services. This is all said by a very bitter, overworked Burrell employee.

Each have some plusses and minuses between each other, but I've never been happy with Jordan Valley for psych/PCP services provided to my clients. Been a couple years now since I've had clients receive services there though, so maybe things have changed.

You are absolutely right about the turnover rate of psych providers at Burrell... I think Paula Warner is the only one still working here from before I was hired years ago. Most psych providers at Burrell have been great from my experience working with them. Can't say the same for services provided in satellite locations tho...

My experiences with Burl therapists were not bad. I did not use their psychiatrist services at all. But like I said the therapists themselves were okay except for the fact that they kept leaving the company right when I started becoming comfortable with each new person which takes quite a few sessions for me. Retaining the employees is very important to Patient well-being and so that's my beef

Bibi is tiny in comparison, and can be hard to get a hold of as well.

They sure as hell aren't a malpractice prone pill mill like Eustasis though. I've gotten good care from them, haven't had trouble with appointments, but communicating with them is frustrating as hell sometimes.

lochlainn t1_j2xe3x4 wrote

I'd do that, but Mercy doesn't let it's GP's prescribe benzos like Clonopin or Ativan. But I've had my prescriptions done through my primary care physician in the past, and if you don't need controlled substances, they can be a good starting point.

Yes I never had a problem with any of the psychs there. It was hard when some I grew very fond of that actually listened left though. Was hoping it'd be different at BiBi but the girl I had liked left soon, even though the place was so new. Now I feel pretty hopeless and it seems like they just want to put you on any medication for any little problem.

jordan valley health center is the best. not just for mental health, but you can get your dental and general physicians needs met there too. everyone is super nice and at least my psychaitrsit is great. she actually listens to me and seems to genuinely want to help. i also only see her which is a huge plus compared to seeing a different doctor every time at eustasis.

I moved from out of state and made an appt to see a provider at Eustasis. I have PTSD, ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Dr Jains screamed at me one day because I did not want to take a medication he prescribed. I had taken it in the past and told him, it did not work for me. His office refused to do a prior authorization for a medication that I had already been taking. He also failed to obtain my medical records from my previous provider.

He raised his voice at me and triggered my PTSD and sent me into a very depressed state. I nearly went home and unalived myself after my visit. I went to my PCP the next day about the incident. My PCP is also Indian and knows the Jains family personally. Dr Jains was very abusive to his first wife. My PCP said to never go back to Eustasis.

I go to Bibi Health now. I feel like they don’t spend much time with me, but they are calm and kind.

Are you serious? My cox physician sent me to eustasis and said he could not fill it. They are the one's who tried to convince me I needed to see eustasis for bi polar too. Thank you for letting me know about this, I'm pretty mad now

CuriousLapine t1_j3iu2gc wrote

To clarify again, the doctor doesn’t FILL the prescription he sends it to the pharmacy. I don’t think any GP has controlled meds like that on hand.

And I expect seeing a psych for BPD is absolutely normal. I would not expect my GP to treat that.

CuriousLapine t1_j3ixp7u wrote

Weird. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any reason that would be, but then I’m not a physician. I’d rather not put it out there publicly but if you’d like to know what clinic/doctor my husband uses feel free to PM.
