Molly Healey, Ben Miller, Pat Kay, MK Ultra for traditional instruments made weird. Think folk songs with cigar box guitars and cellos ran through loopers and synths.

I. V. King is currently in lesbian revenge pop royalty mode, and is one of the area's most talented artists. The Shandies for a more folky bent.

Brandon Moore, Jimmy Rea, and all of their various projects for funky bluegrassy bouncy Ozarks music. Justin Larkin for more of that kind of thing with a dirtier, grittier feel.

Shaun Munday, Randall Shreve, Averill Cates for one-man-band amazingness. Funk, "Showman" (idk how else to describe it, his latest album reminds me of a circus ringleader in all the best ways), and Gothic Folk are their genres.

Red Light Runner, the Mixtapes, Rosy Hips, and Just a Phase for covers of everything on the radio in the last 40 years.

I know less about the local metal scene, but Mortal Review fucking shreds.

The Many Colored Death, Steve Ames, Hamburger Cows, Seth Darby, the Sauce, Sister Lucille, Shotgun Brothers, Hillbenders, Paralandra, all very talented bands and artists worth their ticket price.

We're absolutely spoiled for talent in this town.

Edit: there are a couple places for jazz, the Dugout does an open mic night that sees a bunch of old-timers play with college students, Lindberg's just started up a jazz night, and one of the breweries downtown hosts a jazz night, I think Hold Fast?

If you can tap into the country/southern rock scene for a night southbound is a decent bar/grill on the weekends for live music.

The outland/the odyssey lounge has a wide variety of shows and seems to be the main spot for punk and smaller rock/metal shows. Also, for local artists, check out Timmy Miano and Slugs

Eh. The Odyssey does mostly EDM shows, and the Outland is now Hour House which does Drag. However they lost their liquor license so they haven’t been doing SHIT.

Me and my wife stopped by Hour House on new years for the pub crawl and got drinks there. Did they literally just lose it now? (They had someone checking IDs outside.)

BTW the Co-Owner can really sing. Did karaoke of The Greatest Showman.

Hour House was the only one of the three that actually had a license and they were using it for the other two. So it's the only one that can serve until they get the other two in order.

Also follow Roots and Radicals on Facebook, they promote mostly punk and ska type shows.

Not sure why I got downvoted for just being honest about the typical crowd, but cool. I was not saying you had to be younger to like that music, I was saying the crowd for RB is a younger crowd. Y’all are so touchy.

That is not to say they DON’T do those shows at Odyssey. Please don’t take it that way, but it’s a LOT of EDM.

How did they not lose it if they were actively sharing it? That seems…odd? They didn’t get in trouble for knowingly sharing their liquor license? Springfield is such a weird city.

No idea. But they didn't. Hour House has been the only one serving this whole time.
