I'll be visiting this weekend, and a couple more in the future from Las Vegas, I always enjoy coming down, because, I live somewhere where the majority of people will gladly harm others if it benefits them, yet, every time I visit your town, people treat me like a person, and, I like it. What are some good places to hang out that could be good opportunities to enjoy that friendlier enviroment?

The wonderful rountree neighborhood specifically cherry and pickwick. I always feel like an actual member of the community when I’m over there and there’s some great drinks, foods, and the atmosphere is absolutely unbeatable ESPECIALLY in the summer. Also farmers park farmers market is year round if I’m not mistaken.

My buddy Dave has a beer fridge and 27 inch Panasonic TV in his garage. I’ll let him know you’re stopping by.

Golden Girls Rum Club or Sweet Boys for the young and hip.

The Flea, Skinny Slims for dive-ish vibes.

Lindbergs and other bars on Commercial Street for a laid back vibe with a more chill energy than downtown areas.

Stepchild's is a fabulous, albeit tiny, neighborhood dive bar that always has friendly people in it. A nice combination of alcoholics, blue-collar folk, and 20-to-30-something food service workers

Stepchild is always a good time. In fact I think I'll head over there now for a cold one.

I can’t imagine many places that aren’t friendly to hang out. Maybe that’s a better place to begin. Dive Bar and Lounge on Division might be a good place to avoid. I’m guessing other places are pretty much “you’ll know it when you know it”

What is the deal with Dive bar? I drive past it every day and wonder if I should go in to see what it is all about

Let’s do it:). I’m speculating it is either hard core drinkers or third shift starting their “night”

Didn't Dive Bar used to be called The Waterin' Hole? I always assumed it was a trucker bar, great place to meet a serial killer kind of joint.

I used to go there a few different names ago. I would always ride my bicycle up there with friends and play pool and it was always a good time.

Whenever I’m bored I usually like to chill in one of the wide variety of coffee shops we’ve got here. Both kingdom locations are great but the one downtown has a vibe I like more. Travelers, Eurasia, and Coffee Ethic are also my regulars. We have a TON.

You should visit Nathaniel Greene if you're free during the day before visiting the bars at night. It's a big park with lots of stuff.

The smaller breweries are always welcoming if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not saying Mothers and Springfield Brewco aren't, but they tend to be busier and, therefore, a little more standoffish. 417 is also a has a laid back feel. It's a little more college crowd, but fun.

If you enjoy Cigars or pipes, Just for Him has a lounge and the 'hang out' vibe is proper.

Just wanted to thank everyone, I've had a great weekend, people have been so kind to me and it's been a welcome respite from the dishonest a-holes I'm used to.

Thank you Springfield, for treating people like people. Y'all the best!

It hurts to think about how it used to be. Ten years ago it was a decent place. Twenty years ago, even better.

The live music is worth it but other than that, you're in the wrong town for culture and tolerance. Born and raised here and it's a terrible place, especially nowadays. St Louis or Kansas City are alright

I've watched it decline to what it is now. We're ten years behind on everything culture wise, people still say the N word ffs, the homeless problem, pepper in the drugs and viola. A turd with cheap housing.

Yes, I was just back for a visit. It was amazing how people just walk around saying the N word and peppering violas.

I was born in SGF and moved to St. Louis last year, and at least in my experience and opinion, SGF is far and away a better place to be. STL is a city with a LOT of problems and a bad segregation problem. SGF is as good as any❤️
