I noticed that the main image for Springfield's Wikipedia entry was recently changed from a skyline shot to a (rather blurry) picture taken from a plane at night. I don't mean to disparage the person who took the airplane shot, but I don't think it's very representative of the city. I tried to edit the photo to something a bit more visual (like this), but didn't submit it since I don't own the rights to that particular photograph. This seems like a good opportunity for a local photographer (drone-tographer?). Any takers?

unrelated to your main point, but the "see also" links on that page going to the murder of dee dee blanchard, the springfield three, a list of our mayors, and tiny town is very funny to me

to be fair that skyline photo was rather blurry too. to publish this photo, specifically, you’d need approval from the photographer, and to be honest it’s vastly easier to get it approved when you yourself are the photographer.

Seeing “our fair city” reminds me of these two articles I wrote years ago for Fair City News, which was like a The Onion for Springfield. Thought you Springfieldians might enjoy these:

What ever happened to that anyways? Seems like it fizzled out but someone is still paying for hosting?

Yeah hasn’t been updated in a long time. Surprised it’s still up. I remember they even use to print an actual paper magazine and place it in various establishments around town!

I dunno, you’d need to manage to truly capture the essence of Springfield, but how many times have you come across a mangy methed-out Canada goose with a used condom on its head that is too busy attacking you to be properly photographed?

For me, the answer is three time in the last month.
