I watched most of the video, I wasn't sure if they were being serious until I got to the informercial-style clip, "Oh no! I knocked my stupid keyboard off the desk again! There's got to be a better way!".

So a joke product from April first was actually designed and had firmware written for it. Google then released all that info free on github.

How delightfully whimsical, makes me forget all about Googles horrendous attitudes towards privacy.
