Yeah, I can see a dollar or two as inflation is a thing but this is a big bump.

I dislike you tube, immensely. Why is there not a viable competitor for posting online vids?

Far, far too expensive to setup the infrastructure and storage systems to compete against google

Amazon could could do it, but they must not think it's worth the investment.

Amazon owns Twitch. And with the latest changes seem hell bent on destroying it.

As of late the only companies I could think of that has a fighting chance would be Amazon Spotify or pornhub. Even though pornhub does a lot of good for humanity stuff on the side of it's obvious porn stuff like planting trees and stuff. They said they didn't want to venture into that realm. Vidhub or whatever it would be cool... Would be cool. Spotify is kinda slow to adapt to video. Their implementation seems to be clunky. And Amazon is more invested in live streaming. I mean reddit could do damage if they came out with a direct upload sort of platform and have a YouTube like interface. Without the censorship. Idk. Just thinking out loud. Either way the bill to make that happen would be immense

Youtube premium. You can get it on a family plan and share it with your "family"

Why are you paying for youtube

1

laramite t1_itbf3yo wrote

Because soon you'll need premium to watch >1080p content. They will also be increasing the number of ADs.

They shelved the idea of a resolution paywall for free content viewers.

So my point is what are they offering on the paid service that makes its a good deal, you can get ad free by using a browser instead of thier app.

Have not seen an adds /commercials since I signed up and use YouTube music everyday... Looks like that will be changing to avoid feeding this money hungry monster

If you watch YouTube on the brave browser you don't get any ads as it can block them all.
