Considering the Chinese have already been caught sneaking backdoors into both hardware and software, these types of policies are the best course for security

At the moment, we just can't. We still have a lot being manufactured over there.

Well no, we would not be able to keep up with demand with how things are right now. We are at least opening more chip factories outside of China.

Oh, so you're saying we're all overdependant on China and the solution is more dependence on China?

You're fucking insane

I don’t like us trading with China as much as anyone, but this is the most stupid comment I’ve seen in a while.

Who made the phone or PC you typed that with? Solid chance it was someone in a Chinese factory.

There’s a difference between assembled in China and designed in China. Designers of hardware and software are going to know if something was added to the product.

Lol you can still use their cameras if you know basic IT and don’t let them reach the internet. The real concern would be if they are using Hikcentral or IVMS etc. with Hikvision nvrs that open WAN ports… but “sensitive areas” should not be allowing any system from any manufacturer reach the internet imo

It would be easy to make this a feature of web enabled video equipment. Not so sure about cctv. Less likely

If they think these cameras are an issue, wait till they find out about what information their Phones share.
