What's to stop every company from just labelling everything as an "assembly when the risk of improper installation heightens the risk of injury."? Apple already makes you buy the entire top case of a macbook just to get to the screen!

The right to repair should be a constitutional amendment. Companies should not be allowed to intentionally make devices hostile to maintenance. Software locks that cripple a device because you replace one component (apple, John Deere I am looking at you) should be illegal.

I’m quite serious. The right to repair a thing you own should be protected.

Good luck with that. Fighting multi trillion $ corporations that will keep you in court until you are 92. Dreams are one thing, reality is something completely different.
