Here is the link to the pre-order website: https://owogame.com/pre-order/ for ~$400 and has an 8 hour battery life.

It can simulate:

  • gun shots + exit wounds
  • insect bites
  • abdominal stabbing
  • getting pricked by a dart
  • getting punched
  • bugs crawling on your skin

Do game just naturally adapt to this kind of stuff? Like if I get shot in the back does the suit know?

Not exactly for first two sensations I would want to try out…

I don't know about everyone else, but this doesn't sound like a thing any competitive game winner will use unless it's required by the tournament.

Developers have to implement the feature. I would imagine a lazy developer would just randomize the location of a specific sensation, but the suit has the capability to interact with specific muscles.

Products such as these all come down to how easy they are to implement (if it's worth the time it will take).

Are these comments satire? Because I’m getting major Poe’s Law from this thread.

Are people really invested in VR realism enough to want to feel what it’s like getting stabbed and shot?! If so, damn y’all are more hardcore than me.

I’m more curious than anything, but this is absolutely a whole new layer of immersion that makes VR an even better experience. I’d absolutely try this out, not just for the gunshot/stabbing feedback but other sensory inputs like wind, chills, intense heartbeats, etc.

Imagine what SOMA in VR would be like with this. (Please make a VR port of SOMA!)

Playing an MMO in VR and feeling wind would be amazing.

or just become an elementary school teacher in the U.S. and you can experience being shot too.

Visit a police department and ask them to shoot you with rubber bullets. Guaranteed you will never ask for VR simulations of getting shot.

One of the spatial orientation things that often gets overlooked or discarded in games is activity reflections. Irl if an activity is taking place behind you, the reflection of that activity is present on every surface around you, not just mirrors. This general surface reflectivity function is lost when the camera view is the only thing being rendered.

How do you think it works? It’s a muscle stimulant with electrodes. It’s like the massage pads with various intensities. It was intense at high levels, but there are “better” ways to torture someone if that’s your intent.

LigerXT5 t1_j3i2071 wrote

Basically has, though not fully VR.

Before VRChat's recent anti cheat event last Aug, modders we're able to link toys and devices, such as lovense, for other people to control. Within certain limits and permissions based on the wearer. Now that's ChilloutVR and maybe Neos.

Simply put, the mod brought up a menu of a lot of controls and customizations. You can control intensity, pulses, etc.

Bonus points if into bondage, there's leashes, avatar altering controls (depends on the avatar itself), and well punishment uses too.

Even though you can't touch someone's "area" to result in a sensation, yet, it's getting there.

Heck yeah I can't wait to use haptic feedbacks to simulate realism in action games and nothing else....definitely nothing else.

supervillainsforever t1_j3i7l80 wrote

It’s basically a TENS device embedded into a shirt, so it’s using low current to contract your muscles to simulate feeling.

If it's anything like the real thing, I don't recommend wearing that suit.

At all.

NWCJ t1_j3jdmi4 wrote

Teabag? The suit punch you in the testicles.

Team kill? The suit stabs or shoots you in the throat, while not activating the killed teammates suit.

Stop moving and go afk, the suit starts shocking your legs until you get a charliehorse and start moving.

Yes yes.. I could get behind this tech.
