The Last Ship is a great example for this.
The West Wing
Came here for this, amazing show that my dad calls "political pornography"
Anything by Sorkin
The Pretender.
MacGyver. He could make a nuclear bomb out of some string and paper clips. He was that good at his job.
Any scene in Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul with Mike in it.
Leverage and the revival. It's one of my favourite shows. If you like a thought out heist and a little campiness, this is your show.
Ozark
House M.D.
Ooh, one,of my favorites, the croupier
Sherlock Holmes springs to mind
The Good Wife / Good Fight
Star Trek TNG, DS9, Voyager
Halt and Catch Fire
Star Trek TNG I guess. I’ve never heard of this term before lol.
Me neither 😅 but I guess it was bound to become a thing at one point or another
Burn notice. Main character is a great spy and in voiceovers everything he does is explained.
first three that came to mind:-
Clint Eastwood’s Sully
Tony Scott’s Unstoppable
Bennett Miller’s Moneyball
[deleted]
Suits, The Queens Gambit
The mentalist Any Sherlock adaptation
The Pretender!
Mr. Robot
If you’re looking for something lighter, Burn Notice and White Collar are excellent choices for this.
Reacher.
Terminal List
Parks n Rec (after season 1)
Breaking bad/Better call Saul
Spartacus (he’s really good at being a gladiator)
True detective S1
Flashpoint
Edit - Also Line of Duty
For All Mankind, although there’s lot of fuck ups too.

Person of Interest. The protagonists specifically, of course, but also some of their antagonists are pretty good at what they do.
And I think anything Star Trek usually is also full of people that are really good at their jobs.
And if you don't want to go to space, try The Last Ship.
