Yes and no

Nationally television games in the NBA actually don't do that great. RSNs do OK, national less so. Thats why it makes sense on channels like TNT.

NBC doesn't really have a good home for it right now, outside of like NBA finals.

What the NBA does great, relative to regular broadcast television, is LIVE ratings. So yeah, ABC averages “only” 3+ mil on their Saturday game but they know they’re mostly getting live viewers. I bet NBC would love to have that on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon/night.

Depends what packages are offered. Especially if NBC is still doing CFB, saturdays get weird for half the year. Its not bad, but a few weekend games is a pretty awkward package compared to RSNs and TNT

There were only 6 Saturdays between the start of the 2022-23 NBA season and the end of the CFB regular season, so I don’t see that as an impediment (also ABC/ESPN currently has this problem and they seem to be managing it fine).

NBC really only does Notre Dame football and most of the college football season is over before the NBA even starts and certainly over by the time people start caring about watching NBA basketball.

i would expect that they’d put a fair amount of games on USA during the week, too, if they’re bidding against TNT here

NBA wants to raise fees and Zaslav literally said they don't need the NBA. Perhaps TNT will sit out of the next round of NBA rights negotiations.

Just Zaslav negotiating in public. Don't read too hard into it
