Conan O'Brien is a living legend of late night. A master interviewer and comedian. He's given no updates on when this will ever happen, if at all. It's been over a year since he gave an "update" about it, which was just him saying he's still working on it.

What gives? Especially now with the future of MAX up in the air with the whole Discovery shens, I feel like it might be dust in the wind and nobody wants to admit it yet.

I have seen zero advertising for this show so I guess that means it's still a ways away

I think it turned into a travel TV show like his Conan without borders stuff. So it will likely take awhile to film

>“When I travel, people say they just saw the one where I went to Korean spa and they saw my whole body and now can’t unsee it. It’s really nice… I would like to add more foolishness to that mountain.”

Quote from a year ago on his progress on the show. So Feb 2022 he hadn't even had more than some fleeting ideas for the show.

But given he's off in Europe somewhere right now. It's probably turned into this.

When his talk show ended, TBS announced Conan Without Borders would continue as a TBS production in the future so I think the HBO show is still in development. I might be thinking of the same interview as you, but I believe there was even a more recent magazine interview he did where he, again, talked about how the HBO show is barely even conceptualized yet.

With how successful his podcast is now, I think Conan probably isn’t in any rush to get things moving for the show. The only thing pressuring him would be he did initially have Team Coco staff take a temporary pay cut while they worked on future plans, but I’m guessing he’s brought them back up to full pay already with the podcast money.

Podcasts are super easy to produce (comparatively), and they all bank episodes way ahead of time to release slowly week by week, giving them plenty of time to focus on other projects. I doubt the podcast would prevent him from doing other things if he really wants to. He seems like a guy that stays busy all the time.

Absolutely. I think it’s not that’s he’s too busy to pursue the show but rather he wants to take his time an do something special since Team Coco is doing fine now.

Jordan schlansky had a remote with Conan recently complaining about this lol. Like he’s just procrastinating the hell out of it I think

Conan has to go with Jordan. I love Conan travels but when he went to Italy with Jordan it was fucking amazing.

I remember, back in the fall when Conan struck his deal with Sirius/XM, it was brought up in an interview. That was also when HBO Max started cancelling everything left and right. The interviewer asked if it had been cancelled, to which Conan said, "I haven't even put together my pitch yet. Can't cancel what hasn't been pitched."

But, based on the other comments here, looks like something is now being filmed.

Idk, I get the impression that he just loves podcasting and would rather be doing that after almost 30 years of the same talk show format.
I'm hoping the thing he's doing in Norway right now is just part of a standalone Conan Without Borders project, as that was one of the best parts of his show.

He’s made the joke that he’s being tricked into doing a talk show again (add cameras to the studio, do some tapings with a live audience)

It’s filming right now, and with Discovery’s obsession with reality TV I feel like what is wrong with what they are doing with HBO will end up benefiting Conan.

It’s all a scam. Conan’s currently escaping to Tahiti with a suitcase full of cash. Until the unscheduled stopover in North Haverbrook…
