I was waiting eagerly for The Cleaner Series 2. When I got the notification it dropped on Britbox yesterday, I dove in.
It is absolutely woeful in comparison to Season 1. Not really any 'heartfelt' moments, except right at the end. That is a moment you saw coming a mile off.
While there were some moments where I let out a hearty chuckle, the show was sorely lacking in laughs. The characters didn't have the depth they did in Season 1. They mostly existed to push a political agenda (Zoe Wannamaker v the sexy woman from This Time with Alan Patridge), etc.
There was a conspiracy fella too, again another reason to push a political agenda. He did seem like the typical Reddit poster, though. I found it slightly funny.
None of the episodes were anywhere near half as memorable as the Helena Bonham Carter or David Mitchell episodes.
If you are planning on watching Season 2, don't. Stop at last year's Christmas special (with the autistic kid). It is much more exciting.
This is the first time I have ever eagerly waited a new series of a show and been disappointed.

So far I'm loving it. It feels the same as season one did to me.
