Back in December, HBO announced that their watergate limited series called White House Plumbers would be released in March 2023. They never gave a specific release date.

Here is an article about the announcement.

https://www.indiewire.com/2022/12/the-white-house-plumbers-teaser-hbo-premiere-date-1234790373/

It is currently March 19th and there has been no new news since. The month will soon be over.

Since today is a Sunday, I suspect we will be getting an announcement tomorrow, on Monday, that the series has been pushed back.

Anyone looking forward to this show?

Or am I the only one who noticed it's absence?

Probably waiting for a major political event to take place this year, then release plumbers to take advantage of the interest.

3/31 is a Friday.. they have ~2 full weeks.

my tin foil hat theory is they're waiting until possible indictments drop on a certain former POTUS. Nixon will start "trending".. every talking head is going to say it 20x a night - that's a lot of free PR.

I hope they get into him a good deal. Liddy was a grade A piece of shit, but he’s insane and his book is wild. A lot of it centers around Watergate. I know they won’t get into the childhood stuff and all that but it’s entertaining

this article is from december.

i follow david mandel on insta, and he hasn't posted a premiere date. he's good at giving us a heads up. I'll update if he posts something!

they just finished all edits at the end of January, so I would assume March is too soon to premiere without having any media or press promoting the show beforehand.

Several anticipated HBO shows seem to be sitting in limbo. Season 3 of How to with John Wilson was said to be coming December 2022, but that came and went and there’s been no news. With all the internal shakeups and changing priorities behind the scenes at WBD, seems like the release calendar has been completely scrapped and is being reworked with whatever guidance the executives have put forth. Just hoping it isn’t studio brass low key purging the series slate. Feels like they haven’t promoted Perry Mason season two much at all, for example.

Normally Perry Mason would have taken the Sunday slot, when there was a schedule gap. For season 2 It feels like the show is lost in the shuffle between The Last Of Us and Succession.

I guess that either The White House Plummers or the True Detective revival will be the next major Sunday headliner series after that.

Not to hijack this thread, but similarly also what's going on with Daniel Radcliffe's MIRACLE WORKERS Season 4?

Episode 1 was released back in January and nothing since. Only just Episode 1. No release date too for the remaining 99% of the season

Dang I thought I was going insane when season 3 of John Wilson never came, I could've sworn it was right around the corner at one point and then suddenly I couldn't find any information at all. Really looking forward to that, hopefully these Discovery imbeciles aren't messing around with it

So I didn't hallucinate this? Good to know I'm not crazy lol, I swore I read it would be coming then but couldn't find anything to confirm it.

I think the WBD shakeups are certainly a big factor here but there are other things at play. There's an impending writer's strike that will likely mean a huge hole in every network/streamer's schedule around this time next year, especially if it stretches on into months, so I kind of get the impression some outlets are starting to ration their finished shows a bit. Also last year there was a huge dump of shows in the spring and a lot of them got lost in the shuffle, perhaps they don't want a repeat of that as it's already starting to get pretty crowded with content over the next month or two.

If I had to bet, I'd say white House Plumbers comes on end of April/early May in the Monday slot after Perry Mason ends. Succession/Barry will be on Sundays through the end of May and there's no reason for them to double up on Monday shows too. Being halfway through Succession/Barry and ending with a promo for a star-studded show premiering the next night seems like good marketing to me.

Idk didn't they get beat to the punch with Gaslit? Isn't it pretty much focusing on the exact same people? I know HBO is always quality, but I'm skeptical that any take that in the current culture won't be able to resist essentially saying Nixon is just like Trump or paved the way for him which I can't see being an interesting take.

Nixon is a fascinating person and I think an anti hero take from his perspective like in Frost Nixon would be more interesting. Or just presenting everyone as snake and maybe giving Nixon some credit for resigning rather than burning it all down.

Thanks for posting this. I've been checking the status of this sporadically and noticed the same change from March 2023 to "Coming Soon". I was REALLY looking forward to watching this but maybe we'll get to see it by the summer? 🤷🏾‍♀️

I did background (extra) acting on WHP almost two years ago, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it soon!

Glad this thread exists because I was searching for this exact answer. I did actually see an commercial for it between movies on HBO yesterday, but I didn’t catch if it had a date
