This show is absolute garbage and provides nothing. Can anyone explain this to me, why it’s still popular? I know most of American mainstream media is trash (I’m an American) but this is just ridiculous. Does anyone seriously watch this shit?

Edit: I’m stupid. I was being mean because the show isn’t my thing. I love sports which one could argue is just as ridiculous, I am sorry 😂

It gets great ratings and is ridiculously cheap to make.

I have a friend that likes this show. She explained to me that it’s reality TV that’s not built around drama, and the costumes and performances are entertaining, and that every once in a a while, the celebrity is someone she likes and it’s fun to see them doing something different.

I don’t think the show is amazing, but I get why people that like it like it.

Yes, it's a great show for families.

We've watched every episode ,no regrets.

Yes I understand all of that, but why does it get great ratings? I mean surely people have something better to do?

I love Reddit but I won’t spend more than 10 minutes on here per day, let alone an hour 😂

Edit: This aged like milk lol

Because people won't stop watching it and we get what we collectively deserve.

It keeps D-List celebrities off the streets.

I don't get the hate.

It's celebs we love, in a fun and impressive costume, singing popular songs.

What's not to love?

It was perfect pandemic TV, they could get actual stars to perform, even for a short period of time.

Now? It's a shell of it's former self, and needs to be put out to pasture.

Why is this NSFW?

But that aside, I don't actually watch it myself, but it does at least seem more interesting than most other "competition"-type shows; it seems to do way more to try to be somewhat different than anything else.

Honestly, it more than any other "celebrity" show I've ever known of has been able to get at least B-list celebrities pretty often (obviously not in every case, but a decent amount of the time); I've usually at least heard of most of the people on the show, which is more than I can say for any other show with "celebrity" contestants.

I don't think the vast majority of people on Reddit would consider just written profanity on its own to be NSFW. And if your post had an actual rating, there's zero chance it would be higher than PG-13, and some TV networks would probably borderline rate it TV-PG if it wasn't very inappropriate as a whole but was still clearly not a kids' show. (Think something like a broadcast network sitcom airing in syndication on a cable network.)

Reality shows are cheap to make and bring in crazy ratings.

There's a reason why the guy over HBOMax wants to get rid of scripted shows for non scripted.

I love the Masked Singer. This season is not as good because 80% of the celebs are kicked off after one performance. Those costumes don’t seem cheap to make and I can’t imagine how that’s cost effective, but I digress. I enjoy it for two main reasons: 1- it’s fun to see non-musical folks come on there and try something new. Sometimes they’re really good.
2- I am a huge music fan and I love how folks who aren’t as popular as maybe they once were (I.e. Seal, LeAnn Rimes, T-Pain) get to remind people of their talents and feel the love again. They’ve even had several legends on the show and it was fun hearing them sing modern songs. The only thing I hate about the show is Ken Jeong. He is exhausting.

These people would literally eat their own vomit if you put it on a plate in front of them.

Its not silly or fun, its embarrassing. That said, let the 'celebrities' (no actual celebrities go on the show, its all washups clawing one last piece of the lime lite out of people who will watch anything).

This is not prestige television. It's junk. I enjoy it for what it is. It's fun to try and guess from the clues. The judges interactions are paltry at best and that's ok.
