> FTX was founded in 2019 and became one of the biggest and most well-known cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. But in recent weeks, the company has imploded, with upwards of $2 billion in customer funds reportedly missing and investigations underway by federal agencies. There has also been a great deal of scrutiny on Sam Bankman-Fried, also known as SBF, the former CEO and co-founder of FTX.

> According to sources, the Amazon series will be based on “insider reporting” by a number of journalists who have covered FTX and Bankman-Fried, though exactly what source material the show will draw from is currently under wraps.

> It is also the latest limited series about a modern entrepreneur and the rapid collapse of their companies. Recently, Amanda Seyfried won the Emmy for best actress in a limited series for playing Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in Hulu’s “The Dropout,” while Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway starred in Apple’s “WeCrashed,” which chronicled the rise and fall of WeWork under Adam and Rebekah Neumann. Showtime also has the anthology series “Super Pumped,” with Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring in the first season as former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. A second season about Facebook is currently being prepped.

There is also an upcoming limited series ‘Hot Air’ about Richard Branson & his company Virgin Airways.

Must be Hollywood's hottest trend now!

Will they be beaten to the punch by the Aaron Sorkin film, though.

I'd love to watch something on this, but can't we let the dust settle on the thing before we write a story about it?

I'm so sick of this stuff coming out before the event has completely unfolded.

I honestly can't think of anything I could give a shit less about than a show about this guy who will be forgotten about in a week.

That's odd. The very stupidest people on the internet have been insisting there's a widespread cover up and no investigation of this case that's already being adapted and has in fact been under investigation for some time.

I could swear they get louder about it every time Elon Musk does something stupid, too. Coincidence eh.

Fucking really, does every tech disaster have to be splashed on the big screen now? This is basically glorifying the narcissistic shitheads who cause these problems in the first place. Nasty cycle forming.

This story will make for a good show, but I don't think the Russo's are who I'd want handling it. Get me Adam McKay or even the team behind the WeWork miniseries.

They’re just starting to write it, it’s not like they’re filming it next week. In the middle of an event is a great time to greenlight a series about it because having writers plugged in and having financial support/incentive to follow everything live as its unfolding is probably going to capture a lot more than trying to tackle it all after the fact.
