I think it has this upcoming season and then it switched, but it’s not day and date.

By upcoming you mean the specials? As the deal was for 14 unless the specials were added.

No they don't the Disney+ deal specifically states that the 60th anniversary and beyond will air on D+, HBO max only has access to past seasons until their licence expires.
Frank3634 OP t1_ixes8fo wrote
By past you mean S13 and the 3 specials, right?
I suggest you read this: https://nerdist.com/article/doctor-who-streaming-hbo-max-exclusively/

As I said elsewhere, plans changed due to COVID. I suggest you read these:
- 4/30/2020 - Doctor Who boss gives an update on Christmas special and series 13 filming: Showrunner Chris Chibnall said that post-production on Revolution of the Daleks was continuing in lockdown
- 11/11/2020 - Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall confirms season 13 will be three episodes shorter than usual: The iconic sci-fi series is the latest production to reveal COVID-related problems
Between the pandemic delays, and the decision by Chibnall and Whittaker to make a pact that both would leave after S13 (necessitating a pause in production while the BBC searched for a new showrunner and new cast), the clock ran out on the HBO Max license.
Those licenses are based on a calendar deadline. They PRESUME a certain number of seasons will get made before that deadline. But the license (and the contract which forms it) isn't about the number of seasons, or number of episodes. It's about the calendar date on which it expires. It expired, and that's that.
You're clearly only upset about this because you have an HBO Max subscription, and not one for Disney+ (and don't want to get one).
Complaining about the situation on Reddit won't change the situation. The next episodes will be on Disney+, not HBO Max. And that's that.

Still no bearing on where Series 14 ends up. You don't know about any (legit) clock running out.
I could care less about the subscription as I can get D+ or whatever I need to watch the episodes. So that is not a concern for me.
I showed you evidence that it was on MAX til series 14 and still can't see what is right in front of you.
Didn't answer the question as to what actually happened that caused it leaving MAX, all guesses and no facts.
The only one that is right is me, mate.

I assumed it was for the next season
Frank3634 OP t1_ixaxxu1 wrote
You mean for MAX right? You are saying MAX has next season (which is 2023 specials). Yeah that is the thing it was til season 14 and next season is not series 14, but the specials. So does MAX have these specials as it wasn't it in the deal originally?

Unless HBO Max’s rights were bought it should still have season 14 if that’s what it is supposed to have.
The Disney deal is replacing first run rights so BBC America loses that and HBO Max should still get it after the season is over.
Frank3634 OP t1_ixfcn5d wrote
That is what I think to but others are vehemently saying no way jose and D+ has everything post-2023. There has been no mention of that at all.

It’s possible but someone would have to cancel the rights deal with WBD.
WBD may be happy to end the deal to save money but Disney or Doctor Who producers may not want to pay extra since they’re getting it regardless.
Disney shared rights for Fox movies with HBO so it makes sense they will do that with this barring no further news.
