  1. It hasn’t changed from Comedy Central days. The writing is still sharp and a little cheesy/lovable. And the storylines are still weird and creative and relatable.

  2. The show’s scenes with beautiful depictions of Black women: Ep 108, when they show what the missing girl had been doing all day; Ep 204, with the homage to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off museum scene; Ep 302 Ms Langford’s steamy flashback. They’re all breaks from the normal silliness of the show but never too jarring to ruin the light tone of the show.

  3. They reuse actors in various minor roles, like the aquarium employee who was also one of the scientists who helped invent the weird silver suits. The other scientist in that ep was the Harold’s employee who teased Q about the mild sauce. And the heckler at Allen’s fancy ass loft party is the librarian in the latest episode.

  4. Brenda Cole: portrayed by Alisha Cowen (writer/actor), she is always a funny addition to an episode and thankfully they don’t rely on her too much. Her writing was presumably what helped Season 2 remain as funny as S1. Most importantly, Cowen has good comedic instincts but her IMDb is almost blank!

  5. It fills the Detroiters-shaped hole in my heart. I wish that show had gotten picked up by HBO. Both do/did a great job of integrating universal humor with city-specific details. It’s like Detroiters meets Bust Down (RIP Jak Knight).

  6. I’m as old as the writers so I’m the perfect audience for the jokes. So many references to things from the ‘90’s and ‘00’s.

Why do y’all love the show?

Kel Mitchell and Godfrey. Outstanding.

Also, everything Officer Goodnight says.

Finally, Chandra Russell is... amazing.

I think about Godfrey shouting “just a little bit!” at Turner at least once a day.
