I bet the CBS pilot "Friend Me" from 2012 is a real winner

Did the account ever turn out to actually be god?

I stand by the idea that god was The Machine from Person of Interest, and that the whole show is an extension of PoI.

(But officially, it ends without explicitly showing the answer.)

This is the best explanation I've seen and I'll be adopting it myself. Thank you!

Yup. That was my mental framework for watching God Friended Me: that the Machine from POI was fanfic/LARPING Early Edition. :)

Huh I never heard of this show. I actually had a pretty popular God account on Facebook back in the day.

Didn't expect to see Cousin Greg, McLovin, and the spokesman of Corncob TV in an awful sitcom together.

Oh, pilot season...

Remember when Greta Gerwig was attached to star in How I Met Your Dad?

I just tried it because, well, what a cast. Turns out that the only thing I hate more than multi-camera sitcoms with audience laughter are multi-camera sitcoms with audience laughter that are so bad they didn't make it to series.

I don't know the background of this one. What makes this a standout from the list?

I was being sarcastic, they're clearly trying to do satirical commentary on being friended on Facebook half a decade late

actually that would have been spot on timely as 2012 was the time parents & grandparents really got into Facebook.

Tbh, it wouldnt be the first time a sitcom with a trashy social media fellow kids style title turned out to be surprisingly okay.

Oh, Selfie...

It was ordered to series but then abruptly shut down after the sudden death of its co-creator.

That show did get a season pickup but was shelved. It's very morbid but I still want to know if that show was really shelved because of the co-creator's death or if there were other reasons. I'm not sure how morale on the set would've been if they were forced to keep shooting so maybe that really is why. Pretty tragic story as the guy was pretty well-liked in the sitcom industry.
