I was thinking of watching it. It's a "case of the week" type of show tho, right? Is it like that for the whole show or what?

It’s case of the week but with a season long overarching mystery. Each season has its own long mystery she is working towards solving. The Movie and S4 (which came out a few years ago) doesn’t really do the case of the week (if I recall).

It's kind of like Buffy meets Nancy Drew. It has a main arc like that Buffy but has episodic cases sprinkled in.
