Most random series that no one but you would consider among the best shows ever made

BrainDead - Absolutely adore this show. No one's ever thought about this since it was cancelled. You couldn't find any article written about it since like 2016.

ACCA : 13 - Even weirder selection because it's not just that I don't watch anime but I have an inherent bias against it. And this isn't even a mainstream one. No one talks about it. There's no fandom. Just really unique.

Starting to realise I have a thing for slow-paced political shows but they don't really exist and if they do, it stars middle aged or old people which exponentially decreases my desire to watch them.

Castlevania - One of if not the most enthralling piece of content I've ever seen. Incredible screenplay and voice work.

At least the first season has a very satisfying ending that tied up all the loose ends. It feels like a miniseries tbh.

It was definitely very popular in it's time but I think Desperate Housewives is extremely underrated nowadays. Not a perfect show but it's consistently entertaining throughout with a very unique and distinctive tone that effectively balances wild shifts from melodrama to comedy whilst never making the two feel at odds with one another.

I can obviously understand why it's not particularly popular among the demographics that frequent Reddit but I'd recommend it to anyone willing to set aside any preconceived notions they might have based on the title and premise.

Pretty much, each season tends to have one big central mystery that is slowly developed, some are more compelling than others but they're all very fun in an absurd and over the top sort of way. The characters have their own personal arcs that carry through and there are also plenty of little one-off storylines.

Definitely not much in the way of an overarching plot so if that's your thing it might not be for you but it's fun to watch the characters and their relationships develop as they move through different stages of their life, there's definitely a good deal of continuity, it's just not so structured around strict plot development.

Good one. I've been rewatching Lexx, and am almost done with the final season. It is almost like the opposite of every other explore the galaxy Sci-Fi shows.

  • What you'd call the crew, aren't smarter or more clever than everyone else.
  • They aren't even necessarily good.
  • Some plots are so bizarre.
  • Some people they meet, even in small parts, can be really good at being strange. Almost like in the Mad Max movies.

mmmm... 🤔 I have 2:

  • Too Old to Die Young - A stylistic crime drama masterpiece in my opinion. Not everyone will appreciate it's slow pace, slow conversations and genuinely unpredictable plot... but I did.

  • Desenfrenadas (Unstoppable) - There's no show quite like it... well since I've seen there have been 2 that seems to be inspired by it, but none as in-depth or soulful. This show isn't missing a damn thing... all while being a fun fucking show to watch.

edit: I forgot Anna is pretty unknown too.

  • Anna: I can't think of a better post-apocalyptic series to be honest... whether U.S. produced or otherwise. Great storytelling, with an abundance of emotional depth. Outstanding production design and cinematography too.

Good Behavior with Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto. I believe both seasons are still on Hulu and HBO Max.

ITV/HBO mini-series about the eponymous British spy who had a hand in many aspects of espionage in the build-up to world war I. Sam Neill gets the anti-hero tone just right between charming spy and woeful cad.

Unreal, Imposters, The Patriot, Preacher, Braindead.

Somehow I ended up watching all these at the same time more or less, they all have a similar tone in some ways, and they are all super smart.

Patriot has a lot more diehard fans than you realise. Plus, being on the biggest streaming service can help new people discover it every day. I guess I'm being hypocritical when I put Castlevania in there.

The Outer Limits revival of the 90s. One of the better anthology series. Ran almost ten years.

Long Ago and Far Away. PBS series for kids animating various stories.

10th The Americans (FX)

The least popular shows on this list are Utopia UK and Veneno. But even those two shows are very well praised by most people who watched them.
