Assassin's Creed is one of the most popular video game franchises in the world, with millions of fans worldwide. The series, which began in 2007, follows the story of the Assassins, a secret society that fights against the Templars in various historical settings. The games are known for their engaging stories, complex characters, and thrilling action sequences.

There are several reasons why an Assassin's Creed TV show would be a great idea for HBO. First, the franchise has a built-in fanbase that would be eager to watch a television adaptation. The games have sold over 155 million copies worldwide, and the franchise has a dedicated fan base that would be excited to see the characters and stories brought to life on the small screen.

Second, the Assassin's Creed series is known for its historical settings, which would provide a rich and diverse canvas for a TV show. From ancient Egypt to Renaissance Italy, the games have explored a wide range of historical periods and cultures. This would allow a TV show to explore different eras and civilizations, providing a unique and engaging viewing experience.

Third, the series' core themes of power, secret societies, and conspiracy would provide plenty of material for a compelling TV show. The ongoing battle between the Assassins and the Templars is filled with political intrigue, and the series' science fiction elements would allow for imaginative storytelling.

Finally, the series' focus on parkour and action would make for some visually stunning and exciting scenes on the small screen. It would be a great opportunity for HBO to showcase their ability to create visually spectacular scenes that are both exciting and cinematic.

Overall, an Assassin's Creed TV show would be a fantastic addition to HBO's lineup. With a built-in fanbase, rich historical settings, and engaging themes, the series would make for a compelling and entertaining television show.

Netflix already bought it.

I loved the last of us....but I'm not sure if it's going to be worth it if we are going to get pitches for everyone's favorite video game daily now.

Almost everyone's favorite video game gets picked up for screen adaptation already anyway, then quietly dropped after a few years of trying to put a script together. Good adaptation is hard to do.

The Last of Us benefitted from a perfect combo of a talented screenwriter with a golden ticket to make anything and an interest in the game combined with the game's respected producer wanting to dabble. It won't be that easy for most.

It also helps that The Last of Us is a pretty easily adaptable game, all things considered. Not to diminish what they've done with the show so far, but it was already quite a tightly-paced and well-structured story as video games go. Most games would need a lot more work to get them into a place where it could be a compelling TV show. (Even the sequel is going to be tougher to adapt, I think.)

TLOU is my favorite series of all time, but I would be willing to have every sub auto block TLOU news just so I don't have to keep seeing this shit.

Which is why it would make a terrible tv show. The movie, with an actual budget, it set almost entirely in modern times because all the animus scenes look like hot garbage. I can’t imagine a show would get anywhere near that kinda money. It’d be even fewer, even more claustrophobic sets than Rome, expect they built the sets on Rome assuming they’d be used for multiple seasons, these sets would be built assuming they’re all getting torn down for season 2.

Assassin's Creed doesn't have any characters as compelling as Joel and Ellie, and the story is a several tiers worse.

This sounds good, but won't look good when you have to build so many completely different sets

Ass creed is a ridiculously stupid story though

They're fun games but all of the story and world building is an absolutely ridiculous mess. One of the bosses is a magic Pope Borgia, played completely straight.

Agreed. There is no way to make ass creed a good series without totally changing the source material. They have a really stupid story and I say that as a fan of the first 2 games and black flag.

That's the difference between ass creed and TLOU. TLOU is a legitimately good narrative regardless of medium, most video games just suck at telling a good story.

Uncharted is made by the same studio and while I didn't hate the movie it wasn't nearly as good as the games because they fucked with the source material in the worst ways. It could've been Indiana Jones v2 if they made it right.

Black Sails on STARZ was the TV adaptation of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag in my head canon.

it would need a helluva big budget if they wanted to keep the beauty and scale of these historical settings

They need to stop relying on the built-in audience thing. The built-in audience will watch the first couple of episodes until "the message" starts creeping in. Then they'll check out. Just like they did with Halo and Rings of Power. Just like Obi-Wan.

I think you're right. I don't play Assassin's Creed, but have seen enough that it could be the premise for a show. HBO might screw it up, but maybe not.
