The only other announced DC show Berlanti has on his slate at present is “Dead Boy Detectives” at HBO Max, which is currently in production.

That feels the definition of a one and done series for HBO Max.

Oh you mean the show that had a backdoor pilot in Doom Patrol, and then they recast the leads?

Kind of ironic since Doom Patrol had a backdoor pilot in Titans and Chief got recast.

Recasting the detectives is a stupid move though. I’m not that excited for the show but those actors were fun in Doom Patrol.

Thank fuck, you just reminded me what show I kept confusing with Lockwood & Co. I'm not gonna watch either of them but it was driving me nuts.

Viewership ratings in today on Netflix pretty much confirm Lockwood & Co is DOA and 100% cancelled. I expect the same performance from Dead Boy Detectives for sure.

I don't know why Netflix just drops all these shows with little fanfare. Lockwood & Co was pretty good.

Tbh I'd kind of agree, it shouldn't go beyond 5. Most other cw shows lost their way before then

I'd be pleasantly surprised if Superman & Lois is renewed for another season considering both The CW's extreme cost-cutting under its new Nexstar ownership and DC's desire to focus on a new live action Superman. That said, I'm not sure anyone wants to be the bad guy and risk a backlash by prematurely cancelling a generally well-liked series. Whether or not S&L gets a season four is going to be a very interesting decision no matter what that decision ends up being.

So...right about 2025 when Superman Legacy releases?

The decision might be out of their hands if Nexstar pull the plug on it at the CW.

yeah i suspect everyone got in way over their head trying to forge the new streaming frontier by making 8x as many TV shows as they normally make in a year.

more like "we're bleeding money from every orifice".

I can't wait until everyone steps back a bit and the writing is better across the board - TV writing has taken a huuuuge dump in this era because there's noone second guessing the bad decisions of showrunners.

the cw not wanting another season doesn't necessarily mean it has to end

They ain’t taking it to HBO Max. They do not have the cash. They got to make space for the reality shows inbound from Discovery+ in a few months.

was so hard to get through this show, just so much cringey melodrama

It comes from all angles too. The sons, all the melodramatic shit with the lang family. After watching it, I was baffled to see people praising it.

Firvulag t1_j6p4fza wrote

The lang family is what ruined it for me.

Agreed. The actress for Lana lang is extra terrible. Couldn’t make it past a few episodes of season two.

NoNefariousness2144 t1_j6p8e0q wrote

She becomes so painful toward the end of season 2. A lot of fans think that the writers have made her the new Felicity where her plot overshadows the established lore love interest (Lois). Seriously, Lana had endless plots in season 2 while Lois had nothing.
