Didn't happen today but is still affecting me. I'm currently studying to become a personal trainer, and decided that i needed to go to the gym regularly and get back into shape(I hadn't done bodybuilding for about a year). I started going back in December and tried to get back to what I was doing back in college, about 4 years ago. It's important to note I've been having issues with my joints popping out of place in my hands and I've been having a lot of random pain over the last year, doctors told me i was fine when i had insurance(before i started at the gym). It was going fine at the gym for a bit and I was feeling good, but after about a month or 2, my shoulder started hurting. I kept going for a week after it started but the pain kept getting worse.

I stopped lifting about 1.5-2 months ago to let my shoulder heal, but nothing has really been feeling better and it's still in pain. It almost feels like the shoulder blade pops out of place and I can shift it around, I'm constantly adjusting my shoulder to make it hurt less. I don't have insurance, so I've just been taking this time to hope that my shoulder started to get better eventually. I've gone far enough in my course that I now know proper ways of seeing issues in posture, and I know some of the basics of reconditioning, about 2 months too late.

I should have just taken it easy and not tried to get where I was back in college, my joints aren't as good as of this last year and I have no insurance/money for urgent care. I still have an almost full range of motion, I just have to be extra careful if I do any upper body lifting. Eventually I will need to see a doctor, but until then I just hope I don't fuck it up worse than it already is.

TL;DR - I jumped back into the gym after being deconditioned and had health issues for a year, fucked my shoulder up. I have no insurance, but now through my training course I have the knowledge of why I fucked my shoulder up, so hindsight is 20/20 I guess

Once I can afford to see one it's top priority! I wish I would've gotten further in my cert before starting working out, could've helped me evaluate myself. Live and learn. Btw you mean physical the therapist, right? Or personal trainer?

Any plans to get health insurance? One bad mishap, car accident, etc. and you can be financially devastated for life.

I'm out of a job and doing instacart right now while I finish up my cert. Health insurance is priority 1, but very difficult when you're living paycheck to paycheck

Not the best thing in the world but even part time at Starbucks offers very good benefits.

Do they offer for part time? I thought companies only offer insurance for full time employees? I'll have to look into that, thanks for the tip!

Most companies are full time but a good amount do offer benefits for part time. I could be remembering incorrectly but I am 90% sure when my sister worked she was part time and had benefits. I believe there was a longer wait period until the benefits began though. I would just look at a few entry level positions at larger companies to see offered benefits. Won’t be the most fulfilling work but it’ll help pay bills and help get you needed coverage in the meantime. Plus personally any work experience you can add to resumes is always good.

I used to work part time 20 hrs per week for a school district and they offered health insurance. It doesn’t have to be a fantastic plan, just something very basic to help ward off catastrophe.

I have a labrum tear in my shoulder, from a dislocation, 10 months ago

I have seen a physio past 10 months, a shoulder specialist and had a MRI scan, to show the tear and dislocation and most recently got myself a PT for rehab. All the information I have got from the specialist has been great, but the main thing I have taken away, is start light, any sharp pain is bad, aches the next are ok, get some bands, use them daily, loads of shoulder exercises to learn on YouTube, and I can't bench press, I can dumbbell press, but no machines or bars as of the limited motion. Hope any of that info helps.
