This lmao. I grew up in a family that was barely hitting poverty limit. My ex’s family took me in when I was 15 and pregnant with their grand baby. They were a lower middle class family. First Christmas rolled around and they asked for everyone to make a wishlist. Ex’s mom pulled me aside later and told me that I didn’t ask for enough and that I should put down more things or ask for a more expensive item. I ended up getting a new phone and a Fitbit for Christmas, and then a LOT of what I had originally asked for. Which was coffee mugs and travel tumblers, and throw blankets. I felt like it was too much and it was really awkward lmao. The next year they got me a Samsung watch and a bunch of high end makeup, and more coffee cups and tumblers because I honestly have a weird obsession with them. I’m obviously not with my sons dad anymore but I’m still on really good terms with his mom and sister, to the point that they’re really excited about the soon to be new baby (from a different dad, my current partner) and plan on attending my baby shower lol.
