What have we learned today? When you're giving the banisters head, make sure you have the lubricant ready from the start.

[deleted] OP t1_j2dmqb3 wrote

The banisters are selfish lovers

Just be glad it was only family that saw..... my dumbass 4yr old self was dared to stick my head through the cookie hole at the grocery store and definitely got stuck in the glass hole..... my dad was so mad and the firefighters kept feeding me cookies to calm me down! Haha

thisusedyet t1_j2exghw wrote

Not the best idea... those firefighters may have just encouraged you to keep shoving your head through the jar, because 'hey, free cookies!' :P

shoulda-known-better t1_j2ey2ma wrote

Oh it was worse then that.... not a jar it was a circle cut out of the entire bakery display case (I was meant to reach in by hand) but I heard my brother say the magic words.... "do it you won't" and I definitely did..... it took about 4 hours for them to cut the glass out of the display then cut a chunk out so I was free!! (Might not have been that long but certfelt like it!!

OP what you experienced are intrusive thoughts. Normally people don’t act on them. Because they involve you doing something dumb or dangerous.

Most people never act on them, but in your case you actually planned around it. You dove head first into the void.

Ephidiel t1_j2dih54 wrote

The good old " i just wanted to see if i could" 👍🏻

[deleted] OP t1_j2dj5cz wrote

You have no idea how curious I was, like I itch I couldn’t scratch until I tried.

Reflection_Secure t1_j2el6t3 wrote

Those damn intrusive thoughts. I can't tell you how many things I've done and then been like "I'm so sorry. I don't know why I pushed you off of that. My brain just said I should and I didn't question it."

I've learned to say my intrusive thoughts out loud, that gives me a chance to hear them, out loud, and go, "WTF, that's crazy!" And I usually don't do the thing. Plus people often praise me for not doing the thing, which also reaffirms "good job, me, another disaster avoided thanks to my good will power!"

Ok-Ad-7247 t1_j2fbdoq wrote

I can certainly relate... but i was a kid when i did what you did.... lol!

Josilph t1_j2diewz wrote

If you look at OP's post history you'll see a lot of 'thought' went into this debacle.

Edit: spelling

[deleted] OP t1_j2e40ui wrote

When I posted on NoStupidQuesions, I was pushing my face against the bars. After seeing all the responses saying, “don’t get EMS involved,” I wanted to prove them wrong. I wanted to show myself that I wouldn’t get stuck, so I squeezed my head through the bars…😬

DangerousCalm t1_j2eaty6 wrote

You sure showed them lol

[deleted] OP t1_j2ebr09 wrote

You wouldn’t believe the pride I felt when I first got it in. I was like, “told you I could do it.”

Oblic008 t1_j2e2dz0 wrote

"What are you doing, step-banister...?"

TattieMafia t1_j2dx7cb wrote

This used to happen at the fence to my primary school all the time. You need to turn the person around, so their back is facing the floor, then they can get out as easily as they got in because their ears are the right way around.

[deleted] OP t1_j2e02x6 wrote

I tried this, I still couldn’t get out 😫

TattieMafia t1_j2edvtr wrote

No way!! That was the janitor's magic trick. Sometimes he used Vaseline, but mostly he just turned them around and sent them on their way. It must have happened often for him to have a technique. The kid would stay trapped and other pupils and teachers would hover around until the janitor turned up and instructed them.

[deleted] OP t1_j2eir0w wrote

I think it’s because I really forced my head in there. By the time I turned myself around my ears and head got a little swollen. You should have seen my face, very beat red.

TattieMafia t1_j2fg02j wrote

I bet the old jannie at my primary could have done it. He has those skills. Lucky you had people to help you or you might still be there.

fliguana t1_j2dosdy wrote

A family with low engineering skills?

A rope/towel twisted around neighboring bars would work, if no pipe clamps are around.

[deleted] OP t1_j2dwra8 wrote

I simply couldn’t, legit every time I walked by the banisters my mind told me to stick my head in 😓

cromulent923 t1_j2elyd6 wrote

You lost all plausible deniability by bringing the butter with you

[deleted] OP t1_j2eq5ms wrote

KatiePotatie1986 t1_j2dxpof wrote

Not really excusable at 22 🤦🏼‍♀️

Its_eeasy t1_j2dzxwg wrote

Be honest, you'll do it again won't you.

[deleted] OP t1_j2e36qe wrote

Honestly, being stuck was kind of exciting. If I’m going to do it again, I’m bringing a ton of lubricant with me and choosing the widest banister.

Squigglepig52 t1_j2dr0vp wrote

Most of us try this at a much younger age.

For me, if I can get my ears through, the rest of me will also fit through.

Got yelled at by somebody in the neighbouring building for squeezing through the fence to take a shortcut last summer.

[deleted] OP t1_j2dsruq wrote

Embarrassed that I got my head stuck as an adult. You’d think I’d be smarter than this but here we are.

Squigglepig52 t1_j2eem3l wrote

For me, it's that you knew it was risky, and lubed up just in case. That's my kind of thinking, hahaha.

Honestly, there are worse ideas to test, at least the family got a laugh.

Kwasan t1_j2ea7d0 wrote

You're an idiot. That being said, fear is the only reason this hasn't happened to me, and I've come damn close on multiple occasions lmao.

[deleted] OP t1_j2ebmt7 wrote

Care to share your experiences? 😂

Kwasan t1_j2f3kaz wrote

First thing that comes to mind is smashing my foot in an automatic car door because I was curious. Or doing exactly what you did, except I was thankfully able to get out with relative ease as well. Then a whole lot of high risks low reward Nsfw stuff if you're interested in that 😅

Gamblersluck954 t1_j2esa6m wrote

I had a similar incident, except it was a staircase banister, they were made of wood and I was 4 years old

Ok-Ad-7247 t1_j2fazhe wrote

Excuse me for a moment... I need to step outside..

FateEntity t1_j2eg5dj wrote

NGL, there's a hentai with a similar plot.

Remember boys and girls, lube FIRST, then insert. Also, maybe oil or lotion next time instead of gross butter?

At least it didn't result in calling the first department and being even more embarrassed OP. Family should've took a pic, something to laugh at years later.

[deleted] OP t1_j2ei12k wrote

Next time I’m bringing baby oil and vaseline with me.

teddyoctober t1_j2eihdr wrote

The deficiency of critical thought here is truly impressive!

[deleted] OP t1_j2ejkcd wrote

I honestly didn’t think I would get stuck as badly as I did. I assumed it would be a little tight, which is why I brought the butter. I figured butter was good enough to get me out. When I buttered up and pull on the bars, you should have seen my face when my head still didn’t budge.

tteetth t1_j2ep623 wrote

I did this very thing with my leg in grade 2

mike117 t1_j2eq9bg wrote

To get out of this, you actually have to turn your body around on your back so your head can come out the same way it went in (facing forward).

If you try to pull back, the way the head/ears are shaped will indeed keep you stuck there, but if you got into it facing forward you’ll get out of it facing forward.

[deleted] OP t1_j2eqfn2 wrote

I tried this but still couldn’t get out. I think it’s because I had to squeeze my head in there in the first place.

The banisters definitely got me stuck, sadly no barristers were there to help 🙁

I think the problem was that I squeezed it in there.

PckMan t1_j2echrx wrote

I understand the urge to stick your head in there, but I got my head stuck once when I was 4 years old so I've learned my lesson. It was actually a pretty chill affair overall so it's not like it's a traumatic experience or anything. I just know I won't get a pass for it now that I'm not a toddler.
