So I have COVID. After 2 years of avoiding the bastard, it finally got me. Now I know how it probably feels to have that snail catch up with you.

Anyways, for some reason I have an insanely throbbing sore throat, this stings like I've swallowed a pack of razor blades, and because of the virus, I have to self-isolate from the rest of my household, which has left me bored and under stimulated, even with all my games.. So, I decided that to cure my boredom, I will entertain my mouth with flavours, so I brought up some Oreos, Custard creams, jam biscuits, and last but not least, a glass of Lemonade.

After chowing down on some of the biscuits, I decide to take a swig of the Lemonade. BIG. FUCKING. MISTAKE. This shit set my throat on fire like a mixtape meme from 2014, it HURT like hell. As a matter of fact it's been about an hour and the only reason it's not as excruciating anymore is because I've just been microdosing with icy water to calm it down. Now I don't know what to do with this glass of Lemonade that I still have, because I can't put it in the fridge otherwise it may contaminate the fridge, and I don't want to throw it out because that'd be a huge friggin waste.

TL;DR drank lemonade with sore throat, stung really badly

Just dump it down the sink, dude. It's ONE glass of lemonade, not a lifetime supply.

A COVID case was found, A sore throat and isolation abound, To cure boredom, treats were consumed, But a lemonade swig left him doomed.

The drink set his throat ablaze, Like a meme from days of yore, He tried icy water to quell the pain, But the lemonade remained a great bane.

Now he sits with a drink he can't discard, Unable to put it in the fridge, it's hard, To know what to do with the glass now bare, But he'll find a way, he doesn't despair.

Throw it out and be glad you can taste. I've never had covid, but my son described gagging on a glass of water, because it was cold and wet with absolutely no taste.

It is weird that water taste changes. It becomes just a wet cold in the mouth. But nothing gag inducing.

When i had covid everything tasted nauseately sweet. Water? Sweet. Steak? Sweet. Hotsauce? Sweet. Grilled cheese? Sweet. Desert or usually sweet treat? Hell no, would gag and physically could not eat it it was so sweet (same for most foods, was just 4x worse with actually sweet stuff)

Really the only thing i could eat or drink was milk, somehow that didn’t change much taste wise. I drank soooo much milk

Water has taste. Drinking water, anyway. Get yourself some distilled water and then tell me water meant to be drunk doesn't have taste.

Perhaps, but not to me. What was described above is me: gagging on a glass of water because it's too plain. I just can't drink plain water.

There are a lot of throat numbing lozenges out there.

I have also recently gotten covid for the first time and to be honest I would choose to suffer the spicy lemonade every day of my life rather than have no taste or smell. I truely hope you recover without any issues, this sucks

sounds like it was the acid from the lemon, try some icecream or milk to try and counter the effects. Yogurt too!

This post should almost be on r/frugal because of how worried you are to spill your singular glass of lemonade down the sink.

Hmm. I don't know if anyone catches COVID from COVID-infected people's unfinished beverages being in the fridge, but if you can't do that and don't want to throw it out, hmm. If it's the acidity that hurt your throat, maybe try neutralizing it by adding some baking soda? This will make the lemonade salty, so not do this if you're restricting your sodium intake. If you do, add the baking soda carefully to avoid it fizzing out of control and making a mess.

That would make the lemonade taste awful. Better to throw it away and drink water.
