Ok, that was funny.

I also would like to point out that your husband sounds so sweet and supportive, I think you guys will make great parents. Congrats.

If I'm reading the story right, he was holding a cold compress on her neck and reassuring her while she was shitting her guts out?! I can't decide whether that's incredibly sweet or incredibly gross. Maybe both

MiLeenaLee t1_j2e9akw wrote

It's totally both and most men, scratch that, partners, would not do that. Pretty sure I'm one of them.

Spoiled_unicorn t1_j2eg5gb wrote

My husband loves me beyond, but rest assured, neither he nor I would do this. But still seriously cute and funny.

remotetissuepaper t1_j2ee3of wrote

Yeah I would never do that and I don't think it makes me a bad partner. With the caveat that if it was somehow life-threatening or an urgent emergency I'd do whatever I needed to do. But I might puke while doing it lol.

If you think you're pooped now, wait until the kid gets here.

That's adorable. Honestly in the moment things like that are better than anything else, even if you're letting the flood gates open on the porcelain throne.

You had frequent urges to pee at a few weeks pregnant?

15

a_peanut t1_j2egcxv wrote

Yeah the hormone changes can make you feel the need to pee more frequently (progesterone I think?). I needed to pee constantly for the first 8 weeks, then it calmed down a bit. Until the fetuses got big enough to put physical pressure on my bladder.

Some women experience this within their regular menstrual cycle too. I often get what call perma-pee around my ovulation - it's where you basically constantly feel like you need to pee, despite having just gone.

a_literal_throwaway t1_j2eiip5 wrote

Oh god I get that a lot too, my doctor told me that stimulants (like the ones I take for my ADHD) can often cause “bladder spasms” which can make it feel like you have to pee when you don’t actually have to pee.

Nightthunder t1_j2eulaw wrote

I pee more when I take my adhd meds because they make me feel warmer and I actually remember to drink water

It happens sometimes lol

It happens early because of an increase in kidney function. Later it’s cause by not having any room in your body for your bladder.

cluelessbobcat t1_j2egm1n wrote

It can happen, i mean one of my pms symptoms is frequent peeing

pinupcthulhu t1_j2el5je wrote

Extra hormone production can increase urination, with or without a fetus pushing on the bladder.

This is adorable! Best pregnancy announcement story I've heard

Please print out this story, and place it in the baby book! Though it’s not the story and instagram-worthy picture you thought it would be, it will be memorable!

BTW, congratulations to you both!

As much as I would love a big production, that's never been us.

I took a test at about noon on a week day because a friend suggested I was probably pregnant instead of getting sick from Covid.....instant dark line.....started freaking out. Took a picture, sent it to my husband.........no response. I'm packing the house, yelling at the dog for him to help me, tell me what to do. Texted my husband again, nothing. Called him ten minutes later, he's in the work basement working on some machine, bad reception, can't hear anything. Finally steps out to where we can talk and gets my picture. He says, what is it? It looks like hieroglyphics. I said, it's two lines dumbass. That's all that matters.....two lines. He says, o yeah......umm ok. I said, that's it?!?! Are you ok?? He says, yeah, I'm good. That was it. He went back to work.

He came home with pink and blue flowers and had his "real" reaction when we were together.

Congrats OP!! Good luck!

This post is now your "cute youtube announcement video."

And it's not a TIFU. This pregnancy announcement will set a new standard of comedy. Congrats.

This is amazing lmao.

When I took the pregnancy test that gave us our now-3-month-old, I had to poop and yelled for my husband to come into the bathroom when the second line showed up. Very romantic.

Honestly, this just means he's the right guy and will be a great Dad. Things can get gnarly during birth (or after if you have a c-section) and he's going to be there through it all, unwavering. Congrats OP!

gutsyredhead t1_j2eosbo wrote

Awww thanks! I am reading him all of these nice compliments.

St3phiroth t1_j2f0hcx wrote

I had elaborate plans on how to surprise my husband each time and both times ended up just blurting it out when I left the bathroom. Haha.

And not to scare you, but if you have any more abdominal pain like that, I'd go get checked out by your OB or ER ASAP. Abdominal pain in early pregnancy can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy that needs immediate treatment so it doesn't risk your life.

Congratulations! Cherish this memory since it is wholly yours and original to boot! (More than the original plan would’ve been! ;) also, good luck with the upcoming baby!

I remember my wife having to sit down on the kitchen floor after the first pregnancy test. It was her first month off the pill and she was sure we were going to wait six months before she got pregnant. Our second child happened just as quick! Sometimes things just click!

WagyuPizza t1_j2f9d8j wrote

A husband who can be there for you through thick or thin, or gone through the entire massive diarrhea event with you, is definitely a keeper.

I don't know why you would want to have kids in your late 30s. You'll be a senior citizen when they are grown up.

Thanks random redditor! Well, I guess you'll never know 🤷

Don't listen to them. Both my great grandma, and grandma had kids in their late 30s/ early 40s. Some of my uncles had kids in their 40s, my mom and dad had kids in their 30s. You wont be a senior, my uncles kids are almost adults now and I don't look at him as a senior at all. If I have kids I'll also want it to be in my 30s. Enjoy your family ❤

Dad was 40 when I was born. I’m 27, so he’s only 67. Hardly a senior citizen, he’s in better shape than I am!

diffyqgirl t1_j2f98rm wrote

My parents had me in their late thirties.

Sometimes I'm a little sad that I won't have as much time with them as I would if they'd had me when I was younger.

But it was the right choice for them, and ultimately better for me. They were stable in their thirties in a way they weren't in their 20s. If I'd been born earlier they would have had to take care of me in grad school and we would have had to move every few years. And there would have been a huge financial strain. My mother probably would have had to give up her career, which would have been hugely unfair to her. I'm glad that I didn't cause them so much stress and problems, and I'm sure my childhood was better for it.
