Definitely give up drinking. And get on your knees and beg for forgiveness

Drinking so much that you are in a blackout and hitting on the wife’s best friend is a huge red flag. You need to get help for addiction.

Oh you really fucked up man. Hopefully you can mend things, but I know that, drunk or not, this could end a relationship. I really hope your marriage isn’t over before it really starts

Drinking so much at your wedding that you black out and hit on your new wifes best friend. Do you always drink that much? Did she know this before marrying you? That's not setting great expectations for the future.

Prob a little late to give up drinking.

But tell your wife you’re gonna start AA or something.

Man, I've read a lot of bad things on here but you may have won.

Your wife must feel so humiliated. Her friend must feel so icky.

Alcohol is no excuse.

The thing you did was in inside you and alcohol let it out. I kinda refuse to accept the excuse of wanting to comfort the friend.

My suspicion is that you're freaked out about the commitment of getting married and have a tendency to self sabotage.

I don't think abstaining from drinking is going to be enough to save this level of screw up. Curious to see what people think could help.

The best apology is taking action to not let it happen again. Quit drinking. Go to therapy, both individual and couples. Don't make her drag you or do all the work of setting up the appts, take initiative and suggest it and follow through yourself. If she doesn't want couples therapy go to individual by yourself. PsychologyToday's Therapist Finder makes it very easy to get connected if you are in the US and several other European/South American countries.

Alcohol doesn’t make you do anything. It just lowers inhibitions. So you followed your nature. You feel like a “piece of shit”. Trust that feeling.

Thank you so much for your objective look on the situation. I did take your advice, and we talked about the problem.

I’m quitting drinking, and signing up for therapy. Hope to start this week.

Thank you again. I know a lot of folks here just comment insults but your comment in 1 in a million.
