These are wildly aggressive and violent reactions to mild inconveniences.

You didn't just fuck up. You have serious emotional issues that you need to step up and start handling; if not for yourself then for your family.

As someone who had to grow up with a person who would get aggressive over minor things like this, there are no excuses for it. It's embarrassing, and terrifying.

I hope this wasn't a choice, bad or otherwise. Sounds like you weren't in control.

And if you can lose control, and get repeatedly violent with a random non-threatening stranger at the zoo of all places.. and your response was to run away, and take no responsibility for it?

I'm sure you mean well, and are generally great. But anger of this magnitude over something so small as a parking spot? How are you going to prevent it from happening again?

I'm not trying to make you feel worse, but what exactly did you learn from it? Why do you think punching someone over a parking spot was even in the realm of possible outcomes for you in this situation?

He is filling with his insurance and therefore will file a police report. You're going to pay for both cars damage, you're going to pay for his medical damage, you're going to be served on assault / battery charges.

And then you should top all that off with some therapy sessions. I'd say you're in it for $8000-$10000.

It seems like this is a recurring theme though. A couple of days ago you had an incident that didn't lead to physical violence but it sounds like you went in looking for trouble. I get being pissed that someone parked too close but you could have easily asked politely if he would have minded moving his vehicle for you to get into yours and you more than likely would have had better results. And even if not at least you did all you could in a respectable manner. And then again today you went and started shit and DID end up inciting violence. You hit a guy twice causing him to hit another vehicle. What if there was a kid walking between vehicles? What if it wasn't minor damage? Again, I get being upset but YOU made the choice to hit the guy. Every day you and I have the ability to be the kind of person we want to be and in both instances you decided to be an asshole and to be honest, if he did get your license plate number there will be repercussions for your actions. You left the scene of a crime that YOU CAUSED. Not only that but you assaulted someone. You fucked up big time. I do hope that you learned from this and if you haven't yet you will. Because this guy's insurance company will be filing a lawsuit against you as well. This isn't a small fuck up, ya done fucked up big time. If you want to set this right it's time you pay the piper and talk to the police yourself.

Yes you do. You punched him in the face twice. One day you’ll do that to someone this will have no issue making your children fatherless.

This was STUPID on so many levels! If this dude had a gun,you could of ended up dead!Since you struck him first,he would have been in his legal right to shoot you!

LordKingJosh t1_j23iaib wrote

Not only can you not spell, don't say widely untrue statements. In most jurisdictions, you need to be under active threat to shoot someone. So unless had his gun holstered and able to pull it while getting punched in the face, theres no legal right to shoot since the OP would be walking away and would thereby no longer constitute a threat.

If he pulls it after getting punch and then shoots him in the back- bam, easy murder or manslaughter case and say hello to life to 20-30 in prison

So you were too afraid to deck the redneck at the gas station, but had all the courage in the world at a family place with your kids and wife relying on you to be an adult and make it in so they could enjoy the trip

Yeah, ultimately this is an ego-balancing act

You should've just been a man with the redneck at the gas station instead of saving it up at a family venue to replenish your fragile masculinity

Well the reason I ask is I also hang drywall and I would not hit someone unless seriously provoked cause I'm afraid I might hit someone too hard it only takes one hit they go down wrong and that's it for both u might wanna think about that before fighting over something so small.

Here what I think is going to happen because my wife just went through a similar incident. The day my wife punch a neighbor hood butch in the face the cops came to the house. She wasn't home because of a doctor's appointment she was at. It wasn't tell three weeks later the caps come back to arrest her. We ended up hiring a lawyer and gonna play the system like everyone else does. Ask for a jury trial and gonna drag it out. I recommend you do the same. If he presses charges witch I assume he will and hold you responsible for the damage to his car and the other guys he hit or the insurance company is going to come after you. A decent lawyer for this situation is going to cost you atleast 5k+. Depending on your job it might be beneficial to get a good lawyer to get charges dropped or reduced.

Edit: just want to add the season my wife punched the girl in the face is because two days prior to that she didn't like how slow I was going with boat in tow over the speed bumps in our neighborhood. Once we got on the main road she tried to swerve and hit us then proceeded to break check us. Then the day of the incident my wife went to confronte her about her driving in the neighborhood. My wife explained to her about the kids in the neighborhood and ours in the car and she said she didn't give a shit about the kids. At thet time she started to stick her phone in my wife's face. My wife smacked her phone out of her hand and then she put her hands around my wife throat. Thats when my wife double tapped for to get her to let go. Mom bear came out.

Try posting in r/legaladvice ? Personally if they didn’t call cops directly to the scene and file a report while still there I’d assume you’re fine, but I’m not a lawyer. Were there witnesses and/or cameras?

Yeah you made a mistake punching the dude, try to learn from it and don’t repeat that action. If nothing happens take it as a blessing and remember all the stress and guilt you feel right now the next time road rage threatens to make you lose control.

A license plate doesn’t give much info unless you have a lawyer/cop with special access to databases. Even with a VIN you can’t really get much info on the vehicle owner.

Check your mail pretty actively the next few days just on the off chance you get served any court papers.

It's a parking lot so crowded OP lost his mind over someone taking a spot from him. There are plenty of witnesses and no doubt someone would be filming when someone assault somebody.

Ok so he should plead guilty and buy a buttplug to get ready. Wtf lol

Arrasor t1_j23juhl wrote

He should pray to all kind of god and devil out there that the guy would agree to a settlement and drop the charge. Outside that, yeah pretty much plead guilty and ask for leniency. If what OP said about this being the first ever offense he got, leading guilty might help him get probation+ fine instead of jail time. Would still cost OP $3k-5k and medical cost for the guy + car damage though. But that's the best scenerio here.

I’ll chime in with my two sense. I’m not going to lecture you. No one is perfect but violence is never the answer unless your protecting yourself or a love one from serious harm. I believe a lot depends on how injured the other person is. Did you break his nose? His jaw? Hopefully all you did is hurt his ego. If the police come knocking on your door. Just respectfully tell them that you do not know the law and need to speak to your attorney.
If this happens, obviously get an attorney and let them handle the issue. I can see this going in many different directions but most likely nothing will happen to you, but I can also surmise that you might have to pay for some damages to that car the ‘victim’ hit. Saying all this the ‘victim’ was a douche.

4

Arrasor t1_j23ekqx wrote

Being a douche isn't a crime, assaulting anyone, even when that someone is a massive douche, is a serious crime, however.

Your belief is wrong, the aggravating factor isn't how severe the injury is, it's whether OP cause any bodily injury at all. Since there is injury, this is at the very least a class A misdemeanor or a third degree felony depending on which state OP in. Both of which carry jail time and fine in the thousand.

OP indeed will need an attorney. His best bet is that guy agree to a settlement. But even then, a prosecutor can still decide to prosecute OP anyway.

Follow the guys saying get a good lawyer, and do what they say. Likely with a good lawyer you have a good chance unless theres any video evidence or cameras at the park that caught the incident.

You should already know the outcome?

This is case in point play stupid games, win stupid prizes and you are a self-proclaimed idiot.

So yeah, you should probably get a hold of those anger issues or expect to end up crying "woe is me the system is busted" when you can't find a job anymore because you unironically think these levels of irritation and anger are normal.

You seem pretty self-aware so, like, get some help dude. Not saying you gotta stop being a redneck typa guy, but you clearly realize that flying off the handle and hitting people over minor inconveniences is going to end up with you in jail or something.

You didn't hit anyone's car. And anyone can take a picture of a license plate. If your knuckles aren't messed up from hitting him, it doesn't seem like there's any proof. Don't answer any questions if the cops show up. But maybe be smarter next time.

I wouldn't worry about it, the cops are too busy harassing black folks to bother. If they do just say you didn't touch the guy. Next time you deck someone hit them harder so they are knocked out and don't take incriminating pics.

One simple trick to turn a misdemeanor into a second degree felony real fucking quick. That's so many aggravating factors prosecutors would go for the max 20 years and judge might just agree to it.
