How gaudy or plain is this wallpaper? My wrapping paper is either a solid or a very gaudy seasonal print, somthing that I would not want on my walls on Dec 27th.

I'm now wondering what room(s) the mother was intending to wallpaper with that, because it's an interesting choice... I can definitely see why OP thought it was wrapping paper!
