Highwaymen would have been hanged, but highway robbery is not in itself a treasonous act so where do you see that such criminals were hanged, drawn, and quartered?

Pretty sure that was 5 or 6 pieces even though it was called quartering. Easy enough to cut off the arms and legs, head is a bit more work. It is a lot of work to cut a body into 4 even moderately symmetrical pieces.
