It’s why our license plates and drivers licenses have rainbows on them.

I grew up in Hawaii and when I first started traveling was so surprised to learn that people rarely saw rainbows, let alone double rainbows which are common here too. Hell I’ve seen triple rainbows a couple of times

Best rainbows I’ve ever seen were in Hawaii on Maui. Just incredible…

Yeah, rainbows are commonly seen in Hawaii due to the frequent occurrence of rain showers and the presence of sunlight. Plus, Hawaii's tropical climate, with high humidity and daily rainfall, provides the necessary conditions for rainbows to form.

It's more than that, as other tropical islands do not have the same amount of rainbows, though they have the rain and sunshine happening.

It is that the islands are new (Big Island is still growing) and so the mountains are still high enough to make all the rain fall, at increasing altitude all the way up the mountains. So pretty much all the time rain is falling somewhere on the windward sides but it is up the mountain so sea level still has clear skies so the sun can do the light bouncing around in rain drops thing to make rainbows.

On the windward side, there are mountains and rain and waterfalls and rainbows. On the leeward side there are near desert conditions and few rainbows. Hawaii has a couple of places with over 400 inches of rain a year, with basically the most rain outside of places that have seasonal monsoons.

Went to Maui for a vacation and you would see a hand full every day. Also got very good at throwing the top on a jeep wrangler in a split second because of the pop up showers.

As a kid we drove through the end of a rainbow on the interstate there. It was really weird, normally they just move further snd further away.

I remember the University of Hawaii sports teams used to be called the Rainbow Warriors (or Rainbow Wahine for women's teams). In 2000, many of the men's teams dropped the "rainbow" part and just kept the Warriors name though as the rainbow became heavily associated with the LGBT community and wasn't a powerful or intimidating mascot. They eventually reversed this in 2013 as it was now cool to be pro-LGBT and uncool to be avoiding LGBT symbols. Oh who am I kidding, it was because the alumni donors didn't like dropping the rainbow and they will do whatever people pay them to do.

My very favorite experience at uh manoa dorms was standing on top of the circle towers and looking down at a full circle rainbow. Totally stunning in a totally stunning place.

A friend of a friend lived there for a while.

I've been told that while Hawaii is indeed one the most beautiful places in the world, however, it's very expensive to live there, and lamentably, they have a terrible meth problem.

went paragliding first time on Haleakala, and the pro I was attached to and I threw shadows onto the clouds at our level that were rainbow filled. Like, a rainbow in the shape of our silhouette. I don't know the name of or understand the phenomenon. it was just so cool.
