During the lunacy of covid closures, restaurants were allowed to open, bars were not. Bars started serving fries to every table. I don't think that rule lasted a week. They did start allowing alcohol takeout and delivery from liquor stores though.

Lmao one place near me just served a single pickle on a paper plate for a month or two

Just one pickle? Did they just pass it around to each table? Did they at least put it back in the fridge after closing?

You'd get a drink and an accompanying pickle, some people ate em, the rest got thrown out

Apologies, it was a sad attempt at a joke based on your use of the phrase "a single pickle" inferring that there was only one pickle available at the establishment.

Irish restaurants were the same, you needed to order a "substantial meal worth at least 9 euro", so there was places that would give you a dirty plate and a fake receipt with your drink.
