It's not quite clear if Mt elbrus is the highest peak in Europe. It depends on where you consider the border between Europe and Asia. The other candidate is Mt Blanc. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Elbrus

Right but that's besides the point. It's even higher than Mt Blanc and they summited it on horses.

It's not a very steep or difficult mountain to ascend.
