But they’re not tarts

Just think what we could have had if Warhol made a deep fried art movement. We could be having deep fried toaster strudels.

Well most tarts "have the parts" which will make the men pop up and then pop off, likely. grin
Marketing of words was effective once again.

> "When Kellogg first introduced Pop-Tarts toaster pastries in the 1960s, the name was intended to be a play on the 'Pop art' craze of the time. So, who better to paint Pop-Tarts into Pop culture history than Burton Morris?" said Nicolas Amaya, associate director of marketing, Pop-Tarts(®). "Morris' signature-use of bright and playful colors, and his ability to inject energy and optimism into common objects, and elevate them to iconic status, make him the perfect artist to help celebrate the fun, creative spirit of Pop-Tarts."

Aren't they breakfast tarts that pop out of the toaster. That's what they've always been.
This is marketing. You're reading an advertisement for a snack food and spreading it around. It's probably not even true or it's a retcon. It's a tie-in to an art project an agency is doing now with an artist doing a throwback to pop art.

Another OP has just been tossed into the toilet again. We doubt will survive the irrational streak in 'im.

Or you just put them in a pop up toaster and then they pop up when ready. That's how they are to be used. As usual, the whole truth is ignored on TIL.
Or as the French Philo said about LA, the ignorance of the people here, gives meaning to the word, Infinity.

When those came out I was young enough to not look too deeply into things, and came to believe they were named that way because you put them in the toaster, where they would "pop up".
