Their bassist said items thrown included "bottles, shoes, clumps of earth, phones, a full packet of cigarettes (exactly what we needed after the gig)" by electricmaster23

Interesting, since Tenacious D and the Foo Fighters have pretty strong ties. For those wondering, Dave Grohl plays the devil in the video for "Tribute", while Jack Black and Kyle Gass make cameos in "Learn to Fly".

I do believe he played the drums in the film and did his own guitar pieces too. Though I admit I can't be certain of that and can't he bothered to find references that support or deny it.
