This is not an ad for said puppy - I just want to know what would be the best way to find a new home for a 7 month old yellow lab. A family member got her a few months ago, but due to a very bad living situation (for the owner, not the dog) she is leaving her home state to be near other family here in VT, but cannot continue to support the puppy. We’d like to bring the dog to VT and then rehome.

Are there facebook groups for this sort of thing? Is the humane society our best bet? We just want to ensure that the dog is given to a family that will support and love her.

Humane society. Yellow lab puppy will be adopted instantly and they’ll do some due diligence so it’s less likely to go to a sketchy person.

second this. Some due diligence, and also the option to return the dog if things don't work out. They do amazing work.

Why not return her to the breeder/shelter she came from? No refund but they'll likely take the dog.

due to nature of the situation we are taking the dog out of state first

Seems sketchy that you are moving the dog. Sounds like there is another person who can claim ownership, and you are keeping the dog from this person. Whatever you do, please place the dog with a legitimate rescue who will check out any applicants first.

Absolutely I agree, we just want whats best for the dog. I know that’s how it sounds, I was being cryptic die to the nature of the situation and just wanting to get helpful information.

There's a group in this area called Justice for Dogs. Also in Lamoille county as is the north country animal league.

Contact a breed rescue if you don’t have luck with the shelters, but a cute puppy is in high demand I’m sure!
