Brave Little State here, posting on behalf of our colleagues at Vermont Edition, Vermont Public’s daily call-in news show (broadcast live every weekday from 12-1pm).

Vermont Edition and host Connor Cyrus are planning a show for this Friday, March 17, on dating. Specifically, "bad date" stories.

  • What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done on a date?
  • What was an awkward moment that felt straight out of a movie?
  • How did you handle it? What would you do differently?

Call the show live this Friday between noon and 1pm at 800-639-2211. Or, record a 30-second voice memo and send it ahead of time. Make sure to include your first name, where you live, and your "bad date" story. You can use a smartphone's voice memo app to record, then email the file to VermontEdition@VermontPublic.org. Please note that they may edit the audio for clarity and brevity.

Emails and comments will also be read on the air, and you can leave your thoughts below or email VermontEdition@VermontPublic.org.

Really? This seems like a less dignified topic than VT Edition usually covers. I'd probably listen, but it kind of makes me cringe. There are tons of podcasts for this kind of thing.

But whatever.

Well bravelittlestate, I'll just share this horror story here:

When I was in my mid 20's I met a tinderella. She was nice, not once did we talk anything about our height and or weight. Everything went fine, met up for a date.

When we got to dinner, I stood up to meet her, she was about 5'2, probably 110 lbs. Well when I stood up, she immediately said - I can't do this. I asked why - she said that she can't date men that are under 6 foot. Then I said - well that's ok, you told me everything I needed to know, and said have a nice day.

for reference I am 5'9 / 5'10 on a good day. People are fucking vapid.

Went on a date at Ri Ra and ordered drinks at the bar. Brought them back to our table to find out she's a recovering alcoholic. I apologized and drank both while she had water. Never talked again.

Good luck finding dating stories in Vermont that aren't about college kids. Dating here ends at about 25.

not entirely true - it only ends if you stop working on yourself. I found a great lady that i've been with for a long while, and I met her in my mid 30's. If a ugly mutt like me can pull it off, you can too!

Ha! Thanks. That's cool. You get past a certain age and a lot of people are looking For you to raise some redneck's kids. I think for most people looking For a social life, leaving is the best bet.
