Hi all, me and some friends are staying near Stratton. Last night we all heard and felt a boom and sustained rumbling/shaking.

Must have been after midnight, maybe around 2-3 am.

Did anyone else experience this? Any thoughts on what it could be?

VT, CT, NY, & MA air national guard units train over southern Vermont fairly frequently. I don’t see any night flight schedules for last night but military aircraft might possibly cause what you heard and felt?

Night Ops don’t run that late. We heard a boom in South Burlington around 4pm.. my guess is thunder…

Definitely heard it at my place near Stratton. I swear the house shook.

I heard two huge booms within a few seconds of each other in wardsboro! Around 12:15.

No, definitely thunder. I'm not that far from Stratton. Didn't seem like a thunderstorm night but it woke me up too.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't thunder. Less rumbling. It was a quick loud boom with a long trail off. Like 30 seconds. It really sounded like two jets going over

Northern Lights, they are known to grumble when they have to travel this far south.
